Post Game: Juniper 61 (North and 61st) for food and cocktails. I highly recommend it. Its not far from the ballpark and it gets no post game traffic. The tuna steak there is incredible. The bar has a nice flat screen TV for watching Baseball Tonight. Say hello to Angela the bartender.

Damn - wish I had known you would be there; I live about 10 blocks away.

Huh. That would have been awesome. The place was nearly empty, Weeks. Its a wonderful way to decompress after a ballgame.

I meant to add in that article, what was Macha thinking in the 8th with Narveson imploding with the game still in reach? He absolutely hung him and his team out to dry in that inning.

I've never noticed any animosity at a Brewers/Cubs game before.

I was looking longingly at this series since I probably won't be able to be in a similar atmosphere/situation again for years and I was sad I missed. A 3 game sweep of the Brewers in Milwaukee is exactly what the Cubs need right now.

One of my fondest memories of the 2007 team was the 4 game sweep up there in August. I wasn't there, but it would have been a blast...

I feel the "Notable Facts" need to be posted after every game.

Nice accounting.

Jack, that's not much beer per game, even factoring in the cocktails after. I hope you also had a hip flask of Irish whiskey, at least.

Too much of anything genuinely drafted angers his blood.

I don't really drink much when I'm at the ballpark. Maybe three beers if its hot. I'm there for baseball and baseball only when I'm at the game. I score it, and want to enjoy every part of the experience. I want to watch the infield/outfield shift on different hitters (Prince especially). I pay a lot of money to see baseball and I don't want booze getting in the way. After the game? Two 15oz Beefeater martinis at Elsa's? No problem.

15 oz martini? Oy.
   11. Bunny Vincennes Posted: April 27, 2010 at 08:34 PM (#3515647)
Yes, they are a project.
   12. McCoy Posted: April 27, 2010 at 08:44 PM (#3515658)
I'm guessing there is a lot of melted ice involved in a 15 oz gin martini. Holy crap there has to be.
   13. Meatwad Posted: April 27, 2010 at 08:49 PM (#3515666)
im wiling to bet there is no ice. this is jack v after all.
   14. McCoy Posted: April 27, 2010 at 08:53 PM (#3515675)
So he's drinking warm gin?

I'm talking about the ice when you shake or stir a martini.

Beefeater? Yowza.
   16. Bunny Vincennes Posted: April 27, 2010 at 09:13 PM (#3515709)
Not a whole lot of melted ice. They are very dry. I like them stirred. The bartenders there work too quick to let too much ice melt.

As always, JV, I bow to the superior manliness of your liver.
   18. BDC Posted: April 27, 2010 at 09:25 PM (#3515730)
I'm there for baseball and baseball only

I agree. I have one beer and one beer exactly per ballgame. Any less, and I would feel I was missing part of the experience. Any more and I would fall asleep by the sixth inning.
   19. McCoy Posted: April 27, 2010 at 09:26 PM (#3515735)
Geez, you're telling me that you purchase and consume a martini that has 2/3 of a bottle of gin in it (almost half if it is a liter bottle)? Is that even legal?

How big are the glasses?
   20. Meatwad Posted: April 27, 2010 at 09:32 PM (#3515741)
its just a straight IV into his blood stream, jack doesnt mess around!
   21. Cabbage Posted: April 27, 2010 at 09:53 PM (#3515769)
My theory is that Jack is actually a Reverend Mother of the Bene Gesserit, and he can manipulate his body chemistry to break down the alcohol at will. So he'll ingest some 30-odd ounces of gin, store them in his body, and slowly metabolize the alcohol to maintain an optimum buzz over the course of an evening.
   22. Spahn Insane Posted: April 27, 2010 at 10:00 PM (#3515780)
Jack's liver is merely a modified grain silo. Well, he is from Wisconsin.
   23. McCoy Posted: April 27, 2010 at 11:39 PM (#3515904)
Holy christ I didn't even see that he wrote he would drink two of them! That is almost a liter of gin. It has to be typo. I can't see a bar selling something like that a reasonable price. It have to be at least a $60 drink. Beefeater is no Gordons, we're talking about a bottle of gin that wholesales for around $18 or so. I mean it isn't Bombay but no bar is going to charge 10 or 15 bucks for 3/4 a bottle of gin.

I did a little research this evening via picking up the phone and calling Elsa's. My friend Bartender Joe told me they are 12oz martinis and not 15. They are $16 dollars each.
