this discussion is most likely moot, as Jones will unfortunately get every opportunity to disprove the mountains of historical evidence demonstrating is ineptness against south-paws.
Your powers of Cubs analysis are already in midseason form. Nicely done.
I like Sing, but let's face it - with Lee at first, there's not much future for first basemen in the Cubs system (it's possible they're dumb enough to let him walk, but I try not to think about that). Sing would be wise to spend as much time in the outfield as possible.
Of course, he'd also be wise to stop drawing so many walks and learn to swing at everything. The last high OBP first baseman we brought up from the minors didn't exactly win Dusty over with his ability to draw walks. (Or maybe Sing's just hoping Dusty will be gone after this year and the Cubs will find someone who actually believes a walk is as good as a hit.)

8) The Cubs voided P Jason Simontacchi's minor league contract.
Sounds like maybe they think he's not even healthy enough to be worth keeping in the minors this year. Of course, since that's a Cub evaluation he'll catch on somewhere else and make 35 starts.

Forget the Cedeno v. Neifi shortstop duel.
Shawon Dunston hit a Home Run in batting practice today for the Cubs.
Unless Dusty talks DeJesus into coming back, pencil in Dunston at short for opening day,
Thank god. I was afraid he was an NRI. He'd be the ideal Dusty guy to replace Walker once he's traded.

Today's game was on WGN and the announcers talked about ex-Cubs coming back to coach. We can only hope Shawon wasn't lecturing on plate discipline.
Anyway, I saw Sean Marshall pitch for Lansing 2 years ago and at that time he was as skinny as a rail. (Okay me and old Abe had similar vocabularies.) Anyway he pitched today and he's up to 200, I think he is my top Cub prospect.

Marshall is really impressive. The spring training guide, www.cubs.com have him improperly listed as #52. He's #45.
I fell victim to the rapidly spreading bad info..."Who's that? Will Ohman...REALLY? WILL, Will, will you sign my ball?"
I got the ball back with Sean Marshall #45 on it. I felt small. Then I realized his dad was next to me, I felt smaller... He pointed out the numerical error. My only error was not getting enough roster data before the trip.

What was that all about?

Dunston had a strange career.
