You've probably seen this story on Wood's knee injury by now. It's a testament to my pessimism, not my optimism, that this didn't even faze me.

Well, if there's a silver lining, it's that the surgery does sound fairly minor. He's scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and he'll still be throwing in the bullpen on Monday, so it can't be too serious.

Funny how a pitcher who isn't injured has to skip his turn in the rotation.
I have to admit--the title of this thread totally roped me in. Good stuff. I think that while poor spring performance tells us pretty much nothing, good spring performance it at least a mildly positive sign.
Cubs currently leading Seattle, 13-6. Sing and Ramirez with homers.

I had arthroscopic surgery on the meniscus in my knee when I was a younger man and a competitive runner. I was running again in three weeks and setting personal bests in six weeks. His return date for his shoulder is something like mid-May, so this really shouldn't set him back.
That Mark Prior is throwing of a mound is encouraging, as long as his command is there.
