Hall of Merit — A Look at Baseball's All-Time Best Monday, May 16, 20051951 Results: Say Hello to the Newest Members of the Hall of Merit - Foxx and Cronin!In his first “year” on the ballot, an almost unanimous electorate gave legendary slugger Jimmie Foxx 99% of the possible points for induction into the HoM. In his second year eligible, outstanding shortstop Joe Cronin received 87% of the possible points to easily gain enough votes to become the second inductee this “year.” Rounding out the top-ten were: Mule Suttles, John Beckwith, Eppa Rixey, Wes Ferrell, Earl Averill, Biz Mackey, Hughie Jennings and Clark Griffith. I almost had my tally agreeing with the official one - I just had one mistake. Tracking it down, I had an extra vote for Buzz Arlett - I had yest recorded as voting for Arlett. Let's put it this way - that would be pretty unlikely. (It was actually a vote for Hack Wilson.)
I had all the top guys, but only Beckwith from the top-ten. My guys are either being timelined out or they are too exotic (Bridges, Arlett)
Jennings reaches 14000, Duffy grabs the No. 3 slot, Beckwith becomes the 2nd Negro Leaguer in the top 25, Waddell will stagger into the top 10 next year.

Jump on the Arlett bandwagon! Look at his pitching! Look at his hitting! This guy would have easily been a HOFer had he played east of the Mississippi. You're telling me he wasn't better than Earl Averill?
Yes, thats exactly what I'm telling you, though I'm not confident enough in Arlett to say it with absolute certainty.
