I wonder if Thome was Harmon Killebrew's secret love child ;) Same build, same quietly professional demeanor, more or less the same career with era adjustments.
Thome, like Killebrew, played a lot of games at third base (though at the start of his career, rather than interspersed throughout). Both men were below average, but not catastrophically bad.
