Mock 2015 Hall of Fame Ballot - Results

BBTF would elect seven this year if given the chance. Based on last year’s referendum results every returning player down to Sosa would already be inducted. We should probably re-do the referendum with Smoltz, Sheffield, Giles, Delgado and everyone who was between 75% and 5% last year.

P Martinez	96.4%

My count is different than yours - I have Randy, Pedro, and Piazza with 80 votes each (you have them at 81), Raines at 64 (to your 63), Sheffield at 5 (to your 4), and Brian Giles with 1 that you've left out. At a guess, the discrepancy comes from comment #63 (Scruff), which is the only Giles vote registered - that would cover part of the difference, at least.

The overall yes-or-no results are the same in either case, though.

I show different totals for Johnson, Pedro, Sheffield and Giles.

EDIT: Heh. I do show 97.6% for Piazza and 75.9% for Raines.

I found the Piazza vote that I was counting as a Raines vote, so my totals now agree with both of yours.

Thanks for doing this!

For the second year in a row Mike Piazza leads the vote-getters. Being one of the five best catchers in MLB history apparently counts for more around these parts.

ETA: Also, is Mike Emeigh the only person who submitted a ballot with fewer than 10 names?

I knew I was in the minority in not having Piazza on my ballot... but I didn't expect the minority to be so small!

BBTF would elect seven this year if given the chance.

That's why many BBWAA members are glad we haven't been given the chance! Don't want too many people on the stage at the induction ceremonies, do we?
