Jeter goes in on his first ballot.

BBTF has elected Bonds and Clemens every year since 2015, Schilling since 2016, Larry Walker since 2018, Rolen in 2019.

This is the first time we have elected Manny Ramirez.

We have always elected at least 7 players. In 2016 we elected 9.

I am a bit surprised by the gap between Helton and Giambi. Their raw value is pretty close.

Giambi has a comparable peak, but Helton has a much better prime and overall career better as well

And defender.

I'd be ok with anyone down to Billy Wagner. I still haven't decided on him - based on current HoF standards for relievers, he belongs. The next best not in the HoF after him is Joe Nathan.

And defender.

That's definitely a part of what differentiates them

I wouldn't say defense is "a part" of it--defense is the only argument (aside from PEDs) for taking Helton over Giambi. Giambi was the superior offensive player, both on career and peak.

My 'ballot' includes 10 of the top 11 (with only Sosa getting in the way). I guess I am part of the GroupThink.
