Hall of Merit — A Look at Baseball's All-Time Best Friday, December 03, 2021Mock Hall of Fame Ballot 2022IMPORTANT: Please read: This election should follow BBWAA rules, not Hall of Merit rules. However, we hope to see only players that each voter feels belong on their ballots. Leaving 1st-year candidates off your ballot is also frowned upon. IOW, we would like to see an absence of some of the silliness that permeates Hall of Fame voting by the writers. The election will end on Friday, December 10, 2020 (1 PM EST). Results will be posted a short time later. Please don’t post any vote tallies on this thread. Here are some of the rules by the BBWAA that pertain to our electorate: 3. Eligible Candidates — Candidates to be eligible must meet the following requirements: 4. Method of Election 5. Voting — Voting shall be based upon the player’s record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played. Candidate bios can be found here. Here are the players, in alphabetical order. Submitting a ballot in alphabetical order will help make tallying ballots easier. Bobby Abreu |

I voted for Sosa last year, so I suppose I would do so again if I had the room. I'd also put Ortiz in with the bunch of holdovers who feel like they're probably just on the wrong side of the line but I'm not dead set against (Pettitte, Buehrle, Hudson, Kent).
Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Andruw Jones
Manny Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
Scott Rolen
Curt Schilling
Gary Sheffield
Sammy Sosa
Would maybe also vote for Helton, Kent, Pettitte and Buehrle.

Andru Jones
AJ Pierzynski
Scott Rolen
Jimmy Rollins
Curt Schilling
Rolen, helton and schilling are my only real HOFs but I’m ok with Jones and Rollins. The rest are because I think a few of these guys should get a handful kid votes - ie did more than just make the ballot
Roger Clemens
Todd Helton
Andruw Jones
David Ortiz
Manny Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
Scott Rolen
Gary Sheffield
Sammy Sosa
(I left out Curt Schilling in accordance with his own wishes.) My top tier choices are Bonds, Clemens and A-Rod. My mid-tier picks would be Rolen and Sosa. I would call the rest of my selections borderline mid-tier, with Helton being the best of the bunch. I would also have voted for Jeff Kent and Billy Wagner if I had the room.
Todd Helton
Tim Hudson

David Ortiz
Jake Peavy
Manny Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
Scott Rolen
Gary Sheffield
Sammy Sosa
I would have voted for Schilling but he asked us not to and who am I to dishonor his wishes.
I voted for Peavy based on BBWAA logic of throwing a vote to someone for sentimental reasons.
you can lead a horse to water, but...

With unlimited votes: Jeff Kent, Roy Oswalt, Sammy Sosa, Mark Buehrle, David Ortiz, Bobby Abreu, Todd Helton, Billy Wagner
If they hadn't fallen off the ballot: Jim Edmonds, Johan Santana, Kenny Lofton, David Wells, Jorge Posada
Roger Clemens
Todd Helton
David Ortiz
Manny Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
Scott Rolen
Curt Schilling
Gary Sheffield
Sammy Sosa
So slugger heavy . . . I tried to talk myself into Hudson, Buehrle, and Pettite, but just can't see it. No enough bulk for compilers or height for peak guys, although I waffle on that. Maybe I just haven't quite adapted as much as I need to for modern usage but they are just under the line for me.
Scherzer, Greinke and Verlander would get my vote 100%, and Sabathia probably would too.
Last two cut:
Andruw Jones
Jeff Kent
Both of whom are borderline for me. Being among the top fielding CF and best-hitting 2B in history (respectively) carries weight with me, given room I expect I would've felt badly leaving them off and thus voted for them both.
Clemens
Helton
Rolen

Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Todd Helton
Andruw Jones

This felt a lot tougher than in previous years. It feels like there are a lot of guys all in the "they may or may not get my vote, but I wouldn't object if they made it" area of voting.
