Congratulations to Ty Cobb on winning his second consecutive MMP award. This is also Cobb's third AL MMP award (he finished second overall in 1907).

Congratulations to Ed Walsh on being named the pitching MMP for the third time. Walsh previously took home the award in 1907 and '08 (though he shared the latter award with Christy Mathewson).

Congratulations to Pete Hill, your Negro League MMP for 1910. This is Hill's second award as he previously won in 1905. Hill won as a member of the Chicago Leland Giants, breaking a six-year run by the Philadelphia Giants.

Clearly a down year for the National League

Congratulations to Sherry Magee on winning his first NL MMP award. Magee was named on 6 of 9 ballots, plus another voter listed him as the top NL position player despite falling short of the actual ballot. Magee joins Robin Roberts ('53), Steve Carlton ('72) and Mike Schmidt ('74, '77, '79-'81 and '83) as Phillies to win the NL MMP.

Clearly a down year for the National League

Yup. Magee barely cracked the top ten and Mathewson finished 11th.

Edit: It should also be noted that this is the lowest finish ever for an NL MMP. Before this vote, no NL MMP had ever finished lower than 4th.

Finally, congratulations to Christy Mathewson who was named the NL's top pitcher. This is the sixth time that Mathewson has garnered that particular award ('03, '05, '07-'10).
