11 times ties Wagner with Eddie Mathews and Frank Robinson.

9 times ties Mathewson with Lajoie, Gary Carter, Berra and Seaver. Seaver and Mathewson are tied for most times on ballot as a pitcher.

Congratulations to Ty Cobb! This is the Georgia Peach's third straight MMP. To date, only Honus Wagner (4 straight 1905-'09) and Mike Trout (2012-'14) have as many consecutive triumphs.

Congratulations to Jose Mendez! Mendez took advantage of split votes in both the AL and the NL to sneak out a victory by 1 point over his closest competitor and 2 points over the third place finisher. Jose Mendez is the first Negro Leaguer to take home an overall award.

Congratulations to Walter Johnson! Johnson narrowly beat out Ed Walsh as the AL pitching MMP. Walsh was the defending champ with three awards in total but Johnson managed to beat him by two points. Johnson is the first Senator to win this award, though Bert Blyleven and Frank Viola also won for the same franchise as Minnesota Twins in 1973 and '88 respectively.

Congratulations to Honus Wagner! Honus is the NL MMP for an incredible 8th time. That ties Willie Mays for the NL-only record.

Congratulations to Grover "Pete" Alexander! Alexander won the NL pitching MMP, beating out six-time champ Christy Mathewson. Alexander joins Robin Roberts, Jim Bunning, Steve Carlton and John Denny as Phillies to win this award.

AH! Mendez ranks as the best pitcher. I wasn't completely sure what "overall award" meant. - Brock Hanke

Mendez, Alexander, Johnson and Walsh are all pretty much tied considering the sample size.

That's what I get for posting late at night.

Yup. If they were outside of the top ten, I would have considered doing a run-off for pitching MMP but I think we'd get the same result- an incredibly close election.
