Pete Alexander is the pitching MMP and NL MMP for the third straight season. Walter Johnson and Bob Gibson are the only other pitchers with three consecutive awards.

Eddie Cicotte ends Walter Johnson's reign at the top by winning the AL pitching MMP. But don't count the Big Train out just yet.

A young buck named Rogers Hornsby won his first NL position player MMP.

Joe Williams won his fourth Negro League MMP, having previously taken home the award in 1912, '14 and '16.

how many non-NL MMPs in a row is that?

Just one. Pete Alexander won the last two as a member of the Phillies. However, the last NL position player to take the top spot was Honus Wagner in 1908.
