Bullet Joe Rogan takes home his second pitching MMP, having previously won in 1922. This is also Rogan's third Negro League MMP as he keeps trading the top spot with Charleston. Interestingly, this is the first time Rogan has won both awards in the same year as his previous pitching MMP came in a season when he lost out on the NgL MMP.
Al Simmons is this year's AL MMP. Not to take anything away from Al but this is the lowest an AL winner has placed since Nap Lajoie was also 5th in 1903. Simmons is the first A to win the award since Lajoie in 1901 (Nap's other awards came with Cleveland).
Walter Johnson just won his 10th AL pitching MMP. Roger Clemens is 2nd with 7. Tigers Hal Newhouser and Justin Verlander are tied for third with 4 (though one of Verlander's came with the Astros).
Dolf Luque wins his second NL pitching MMP. The other Reds to have won this award include Bucky Walters, Bob Purkey and Jose Rijo.
