That's a record 10 MMP awards for Babe Ruth. Only Bonds, Speaker, Mays, Aaron, Ruth and Cobb have received votes in 15 different elections.

Player # times on a ballot
Ruth 15
Hornsby 14
Gehrig 6
Simmons 6
Grove 5
Wilson 5
Wells 5
Stearnes 4
Ott 3
Foster 3
Dihigo 3
Ferrell 3

Hornsby has received a vote more seasons than any other infielder, breaking his tie with Wagner and Schmidt.

Lefty Grove was denied the MMP but he did manage to win his third straight pitching MMP joining the illustrious trio of Walter Johnson (12-'14), Pete Alexander ('15-'17) and Bob Gibson ('68-'70).

Bill Terry is the National League MMP.

Willie Wells is the Negro League MMP, winning the tiebreaker over Martin Dihigo.

However, the National League pitching MMP is too close to call with four different pitchers taking the top spot from our voters.

We weren't successful with our last run-off (possibly because I waited too long to ask) but it would be nice to try again. Please post your top three NL pitchers- especially Brock Hanke and Yardape who didn't mention any off-ballot spots.

I missed Ed Brandt on my original ballot. He was not on the ballot but should have been in the next 10.

First time on a ballot for Bill Dickey and Earl Averill. That leaves the list of HoM but no MMP votes as:

Grant, Frank
Griffith, Clark
Herman, Billy
Hubbell, Carl
Mackey, Biz
McGraw, John
Medwick, Joe
Ruffing, Red
Trouppe, Quincy

I am going to bet we see a few of those in upcoming elections but Biz Mackey is 34 and his peak is over now.

As is often the case with runoffs, the results remain very close. Ed Brandt just edges out Watty Clark with Ray Benge finishing in a solid third.
