1. DL from MN Posted: September 30, 2020 at 04:37 PM (#5979922)Player Team IP K BB ERA+ OPS+
Paige PC 138.1 141 50 191 73
Foster CAG 134.1 96 27 175 89
Dan R's league adjustment is very different for the AL and NL this season - 0.901 for the AL and 0.962 for the NL. That will move up my NL players on the ballot.
1) Jimmie Foxx - clearly the best hitter in baseball this season
2) Carl Hubbell - moves up due to the NL league adjustment, bat helps move him ahead of Paige and Grove
3) Satchel Paige - His K rate was pretty crazy, especially for that low strikeout era
4) Babe Ruth - 2nd best bat
5) Chuck Klein - actually tied with Ruth due to better defense
6) Lefty Grove - best AL pitcher
7) Lon Warneke - almost tied with Grove
8) Mel Ott
9) Lou Gehrig
10) Mickey Cochrane
11-15) Joe Cronin, Red Ruffing, Babe Herman, Dizzy Dean, Bill Terry
16-21) Lefty O'Doul, Willie Foster, Martin Dihigo, Ted Lyons, Red Lucas, Tony Lazzeri
Baseball Reference 1932 in the Negro Leagues
1) Jimmie Foxx
2) Bill Terry
3) Mel Ott
4) Babe Ruth
5) Lefty Grove
6) Lou Gehrig
7) Lon Warneke
8) Mickey Cochrane
9) Chuck Klein
10) Lefty O'Doul
Actually, it should be:
Prelim:
1) Jimmie Foxx
2) Mel Ott
3) Bill Terry
4) Babe Ruth
5) Lefty Grove
6) Lou Gehrig
7) Lon Warneke
8) Mickey Cochrane
9) Chuck Klein
10) Lefty O'Doul
Ruth may or may not have called his shot but it was Gehrig who dominated this World Series.
1. Jimmie Foxx: Best hitter by a long way, and a pretty clear MMP to me.
2. Babe Ruth: Next best hitter
3. Lou Gehrig: As DL said above, Gehrig had a tremendous World Series
4. Mel Ott
5. Lefty Grove
6. Satchel Paige: Grove just edges out Paige for best pitcher
7. Mickey Cochrane
8. Chuck Klein
9. Cool Papa Bell
10. Lefty O'Doul
