Ted Williams is amazing! He has Mickey Mantle ('56-'57) and Barry Bonds ('92-'93, '01-'02) as only the third player to win consecutive unanimous MMPs! This is also Ted's fourth AL MMP (he previously won or is going to win in '51 and '54).

Mort Cooper's career year earned him the 1942 pitching MMP. The only other Cardinal with a pitching MMP so far is Bob Gibson, who has three.

Enos Slaughter earns top honors as the best position player in the NL. The Cardinals have fared much better in the position player category with Jesse Burkett ('01), Johnny Mize ('40), Willie McGee ('85), Mark McGwire ('98) and Albert Pujols ('05, '06, '08, '09 and '10) collecting this award so far.

Josh Gibson is the Negro League MMP for 1942. Gibson has now won three awards in a row, joining Rube Foster ('02-'04) as the only Negro Leaguers able to make that claim.

Finally, Tex Hughson is the AL's top pitcher for this season. Hughson was only named on one ballot. However, four voters included him as their top AL pitcher (including three off-ballot positions) compared to one each for Ted Lyons and Hal Newhouser.
