With Hal Newhouser's victory, the Detroit Tigers have just done something that has never been done before: teammates winning back-to-back MMPs!

Meanwhile, Snuffy Stirnweiss wins his second straight AL position player MMP. Napoleon Lajoie ('01-'04, '08), Rod Carew ('74-'75) and Jose Altuve ('17) are the only other second basemen to win this award. (Carew also won one at 1B.)

Tommy Holmes is the NL MMP. Holmes is the first Boston Brave to win the award, though Hank Aaron won it for the Milwaukee Braves in '61 and Greg Maddux for the Atlanta Braves in '94 and '95.

The NL pitching MMP requires a runoff. Would all voters please submit a top three?

Finally, Roy Campanella is this year's Negro Leagues MMP. This guy might be pretty good.

3. Claude Passeau

Actually had Passeau above Barrett and Wyse when I did my full ballot but upon further review these are my top NL pitchers

Roe, Passeau, Strincevich for me. Gene Bremer is my top NGL pitcher.

I'm going to call the runoff for Claude Passeau. He's the only pitcher mentioned on all five ballots. (Wyse and Barrett are on three, Roe is on two though they're both first-place nods). That's the second NL pitching MMP for Passeau as he also won it in 1940.
