Agreed on best overall w/out a vote (I have Buddy Bell 19th) and tentatively agree on best pitcher (Sutcliffe is the highest pitcher in my set w/out a vote, but I have him 39th so if I expanded my set I could see someone else topping him).

This was a clear Yount sweep. 11 for 11 1st place votes.

Back to back unanimous MMPs after a long gap.

Also, quite the battle for 4th between DeCinces, Guerrero, Murphy and Evans. Rogers was in that mix too until he was left off a late ballot.

A few stats and facts for everyone:

Robin Yount is the first shortstop to win the MMP Award. I'm kind of looking forward to working backward for a bit because I'm interested to see if Ernie Banks will win one in the late '50s. For that matter, I'm curious if Hank Aaron will win one as well or if they'll both be shut out by the Mantle/Mays juggernaut.

Steve Rogers is the first Expo to win a pitching MMP. The Reds, Dodgers, Phillies, Cardinals, Mets, Braves, Cubs and Expos have won pitching MMPs on the NL side. The Giants and Pirates have yet to win one as part of the "original 8."

Dave Stieb made it a clean sweep for Canada, winning the AL pitching MMP for the Blue Jays. He's the first Blue Jay to win any of our awards.

Gary Carter is the third catcher to win an NL MMP, though only the second chronologically. Johnny Bench previously won the award in 1970 and Buster Posey won it for 2012. All three catchers finished second overall, losing the overall award to Carl Yastrzemski ('70), Mike Trout ('12) and now Robin Yount ('82).

No relievers received MMP votes for 1982, making this the first time that relievers were shut out since 1978.
