This is Barry Bonds' 4th MMP win which trails just Willie Mays 7, ties Wagner 4 and Trout 4.

Congratulations to Barry Bonds! This is Barry's 4th MMP to date following 1992, '93 and '96. It is also his 7th NL MMP ('90-'93, '96, '00-'01).

Congratulations to Jason Giambi! Giambi is this year's AL MMP. The writers gave Giambi the MVP in 2000, but the HoM voters preferred his 2001 campaign. Giambi joins Rube Waddell, Bobby Shantz, Reggie Jackson, Vida Blue, Jose Canseco and Rickey Henderson as Athletic AL MMPs.

Congratulations to Randy Johnson! The Big Unit is the pitching MMP for 2001. This is Johnson's first pitching MMP though he previously won league specific awards in 1995 with the Mariners and in 1999 and 2000 with the Diamondbacks.

Finally, congratulations to Mike Mussina! Moose was named the top pitcher in the American League. Moose was named on roughly half of the ballots (5 of 11) though several voters also listed him as their top AL pitcher off-ballot.
