Player SH WS
Barry Bonds 47.7
Does someone have a list of "highest SH WS seasons"?
The Bill James Win Shares book had Wagner's 1908 as the single best ever performance, and that was in a 154-game schedule.

1. B. Bonds – best offensive road season ever, surpassing T. Williams 1957 (worth looking up!)
2. R. Johnson – Best MLB pitcher has unbelievable run of dominance from 1993-2002 culminate in a HOF-clinching season
3. A. Rodriguez – was basically twice as good offensively as any other shortstop in MLB; decent glove, too
4. C. Schilling – are he and Johnson 2001/2002 best 1-2 pair at top of rotation ever?
5. B. Giles – #2 hitter in NL; had some great seasons overshadowed by Bonds/Sosa
6. J. Thome – all this guy does is hit the holy heck out of a baseball; an underappreciated career
7. J. Kent – had about as good a season as he did in winning 2000 MVP but Bonds at an insane level
8. D. Lowe – top AL pitcher in a year when Pedro was only great instead of otherworldly
9. J. Edmonds – best MLB center fielder in middle of outstanding run from 2000-2004
10. S. Sosa – finishing a 5-year run of 292 HRs, best ever; ironically only led league when not hitting 60+ in a season
11. J. Giambi – another great season at the plate; #2 AL hitter behind Thome
12. V. Guerrero – probably best all-around season of career; was above average at hitting, running & fielding
13. R. Halladay – Doc had big breakthrough season, would go on to dominate for a decade
14. R. Oswalt – I admit, at the time I thought he was on his way to a HOF career but injuries shortened it
15. S. Green – big numbers for playing your home games in Dodger Stadium
