This is a bit of a milestone election. We now have 1950-2017 completed entirely.

Three cheers for us!

After the Texas Rangers won their first MMP last year, the Toronto Blue Jays followed suit this year. Congratulations to Jose Bautista on being named this year's MMP- and the first MMP north of the border! Bautista may be the first Blue Jay to win the big award but Dave Stieb ('83, '84) and Roger Clemens ('97) have been pitching MMPs, John Olerud ('93) won an AL MMP and Pat Hentgen won an AL pitching MMP ('96) while Stieb ('82) and Clemens ('98) each added a league-specific trophy.

Congratulations to Roy Halladay for defending his crown as the pitching MMP for 2011! Halladay joins an illustrious group of repeat winners that includes Ed Walsh, Christy Mathewson, Robin Roberts, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Dave Stieb, Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez, Randy Johnson and Clayton Kershaw.

Next up, congratulations to Justin Verlander who was named the AL pitching MMP for 2011. This also marks back-to-back awards for Verlander as he won the first real-time award back in 2012 and three overall as he also won in 2016. Other Tigers to win the AL pitching MMP include Frank Lary ('58), Jim Bunning ('60), Hank Aguirre ('62), Earl Wilson ('66), Denny McLain ('68 and '69) and Mark Fidrych ('76).

Finally, congratulations to Matt Kemp who beat out Ryan Braun for the NL MMP. Kemp is the first Dodger to win the award since Mike Piazza in 1997 and the first centerfielder since Eric Davis in 1987.

This is actually the 5th time CC Sabathia has made a ballot. Missed that before.
