Most Meritorious Player: 1982 Ballot

For 1982, each voter should rank their top 13 players from both leagues combined.

Balloting is scheduled to close at 4pm EST on 06 June 2013.

Anyone can vote, even if you do not normally participate in Hall of Merit discussions. If have never participated in an MMP election, just post a preliminary ballot in the discussion thread by 05 June 2013.

Mike Schmidt’s Phillies beat George Brett’s Royals in the World Series. Royals made it to the World Series by defeating the Yankees. Phillies route to the championship went through Houston.

Candidate Eligibility: Any North American professional baseball player is eligible for the Most Meritorious Player (MMP) award including players in the top Negro Leagues or independent teams. Voters should consider the player’s on-field contribution to Major League Baseball (MLB) team(s) in that season only. Most Meritorious Player: 1977 Discussion

1977 is an expansion year as the American League welcomes the Blue Jays and Mariners. The Yankees defeated the Royals in the ALCS. The Dodgers prevailed over the Phillies in the NLCS. The Yankees won the World Series in six games.

In other news Dave Kingman becomes the only player to play in all four divisions in one season.
