Grichuk's not showing up on a roster anywhere yet. I can't find confirmation, either - nothing on the Angels' Web site or in the usual places. The AZL and Pioneer Leagues don't start until next week, so it's possible that he has signed but hasn't been ASsigned yet.
-- MWE
I'm not seeing anything on most of the eventual B/C league assignees, so that doesn't mean much wrt Grichuk one way or the other.
I think its kinda odd that the short season league start so soon after the draft. Are a lot of teams left scrambling to fill rosters if they don't sign enough guys?
Not usually. Most teams sign 15-20 players very quickly after the draft, and fill out the rosters with guys coming up from the DSL/VSL and second-year guys who are still eligible for the lowest short-season levels.
-- MWE
Shouldn't he be a catcher - or a coach - or a porn star?

P Bradin Hagens (6th)
1B Paul Goldschmidt (8th)
P Robert Anderson (9th)
SS David Narodowski (15th)
P Adam Worthington (20th)

Angels sign first round OF Randal Grichuk
White Sox expected to sign first round OF Jared Mitchell soon
(One letter longer than Saltalamacchia.)
Cubs sign 21 picks
http://www.truebluela.com/2009/7/5/938511/dodger-minor-league-box-scores
That would be great if true.
Dodgers sign 2nd and 7th round picks.
On Saturday, June 20th, the Angels announced the club has agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Randal Grichuk of Lamar Consolidated High School in Lamar, TX their first pick (1st round, 24th overall) in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Grichuk, 17, hit .613 (46/75) with 21 home runs and 46 RBI in 28 games in 2009. He walked 23 times and struck out just 11 times in 75 at-bats. As a junior, Grichuk was named to the 2008 4A All-State First team. In addition, he was selected to play for the 2007 USA Baseball Youth National Team.
On Thursday, July 2nd, the Angels announced the club has agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Michael Trout of Millville (NJ) Senior High School. Trout was the club’s second selection in the 1st round (25th overall) of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Trout, 17, batted .531 with 18 home runs, 49 runs scored and 45 RBI as a 2009 senior. He had 28 walks and 20 stolen bases. As a pitcher, he was 5-1 with a 1.71 ERA. He was a Rawlings 2009 Pre-Season All-American first team pick.
With Trout’s signing, the Angels have now signed a total of 27 players from the 2009 First-Year Player Draft,
including both first round picks:

Royals fourth round pick P Chris Dwyer released from Cape Cod commitment
Sounds like both are pretty much in the bag. The rumors I have heard is that there are a lot of guys like Myers and Gould who have signed, but have had their signings held up by the Commish's office (who has to approve the contracts) because they are over-slot. How can they delay a player's development like that?
Brewers sign supplementary pick P Kyle Heckathorn
Rangers sign third round pick P Robbie Erlin (I really liked that pick)
Blue Jays sign fifth round OF Ryan Schimpf
so is that bullshit about not approving overslot contracts.
Interesting to note that Aaron Crow and Tanner Scheppers are not subject to the August 17 deadline because they played indy ball.
This will probably trigger some more college pitcher signings - I'd guess that Leake (#8), White (#15) and Jenkins (#20) will sign within the next week or so.

StrasWatch 2009 just got renewed for 2010.
Braves sign Minor.
Disgraceful!
Pirates sign 8th round P Colton Cain for $1 million.
what's funny is all the live blogs I was watching on draft day said Minor was a reach at 7...
I guess Atlanta didn't think so :-)
Brewers sign fifth round pick OF D'Vontrey Richardson
Royals sign 14th round pick P Crawford Simmons for $450,000 - first day money.
3rd overall pick OF Donovan Tate, selected by the Padres reports to football camp at UNC
.
That's been expected. It's still around 50/50 that he'll sign.
-- MWE
Besides Borchering (who will sign eventually), the other two guys the Dbacks would like to lock up are Matt Helm, 3B, Hamilton HS, Chandler, Ariz. (their 7th rounder) and Patrick Schuster, LHP, Mitchell HS, New Port Richey, Fla. (their 13th rounder).
Padres expect to sign fourth round P Keyvius Sampson within days. Some considered him a first round talent. Second round OF Everett Williams might be more difficult however.
-- MWE
Red Sox sign tenth round P Brandon Jacobs for $750k.
Update on unsigned A's picks SS Grant Green and C Max Stassi
Helm might turn out to be the most difficult signing.
Padres first round pick OF Donovan Tate has left UNC and appears ready to sign
The Orioles have cut off negotiations and withdrawn their offer to supplementary pick SS/P Mychal Givens
Rangers sign fifth round pick P Nichols McBride
Royals signed 50th round pick SS Anthony Scirrotto after he was cut by the Carolina Panthers.
Givens was their second rounder - they had no supplementary picks.
The O's signed their 22nd rounder Cameron Coffey with a big honking bonus.

Washington will sign, I think, before bedtime tonight. Interesting negotiating ploy by the Rays, though.
washington and kenny d did not, in fact sign. nor did burke for tex (who also didn't sign henke or blash).
It's now showing up as $7.5 million
If it's a MLB contract, then they can spread the bonus over a number of years. If it's a minor league contract, then all the money is due at once. So a $7.5 million contract over 5 years means that the $7.5 million will be paid out of 5 years. It has NOTHING to do with free agency, arbitration or service time.
$500K bonuses were being doled out like candy.
Francoeur was a bonus baby. Hmm, maybe Milligan and Thompson last year, but I think they signed very close to their slot.
I guess if they were willing to spend that kind of cash on a high school pitcher and give another MLB deal, they preferred Turner to Matzek?
A's signed Green for 2.75, Stassi for 1.5, and Ian Krol for 975k, I believe. (not positive on the figures off the top of my head, but all three did get signed)
