So what is the unwritten rule for the manager about yanking a pitcher?

NL acting like the cardinals of late ... getting behind, scoring late, then it's a crap shoot.

I think it goes, don't dry hump them and don't blow them out.

31 pitches would piss me off ...

Are there any recognizable guitar licks from the 00s and 10s?**
Even just going back to the 90s would be great. Lots of hard rock anthems from the grunge era, lots of recognizable pop from the late 90s. Then in the early 2000s there's Green Day, the Killers, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire... a bunch of anthem rock bands with a bunch of big hits that people younger than 40 would instantly recognize and like.

We spend too much of everything on the AARP set.

'don't mess with my discount!!!'

good commercial.

I'm consistently surprised every year by how the ASG manages to move along in well under 3 hours. It's actually weird to see a Fox broadcast that doesn't drag on interminably. Amazing how the players can actually keep things moving crisply when they care to.

Is Chapman the sweatiest dude you're ever seen?

He could be in the final scene of The Thing ... and be sweating like he was in the middle of the Amazon.

Nice way for the game to end, with Chapman's best performance of the year. 7 straight wins for the AL.

typically bizarre 9th-inning moment for Buck.

as it happens, longtime Yankees TV announcer Michael Kay and longertime Yankees radio announcer John Sterling (who turned 81 on July 4), both are on the IL at the moment after being ironmen for many years (Sterling hadn't missed broadcasting a game since his sister died decades ago).

Buck gives a shoutout to Kay - but Sterling gets ignored. I don't want to think that Sterling is considered by Buck to be a "mere radio guy," but not a good look as the kids say (do they still say that?).

No, but that’s because I’ve looked in the mirror before.

I just hope he does the play by play at my funeral.

Is Chapman the sweatiest dude you’ve ever seen?

I was once at a steamy summer Cubs game in Wrigley, and was so impressed with one of my crew that I stood up in the bleachers and asked who thinks they are, or know, the world's sweatiest man. most of the respondents were wives pointing to their husbands. then I had my nominee stand up.

he looked around, and I think it was the steady stream of sweat just pouring off his Italian nose that rendered the crowd mute.

and I am a major leaguer in the category myself, being 100 pct Irish. but you have to bow to greater greatness.

Only if it's a Viking Funeral ... and he's lashed to the mast.

When I go running on a hot day like yesterday, I think I lose about one pound of sweat per mile. Last night I ran 9 miles, drank two bottles of water while running, and weighed about 7 lbs less at the end than I did at the beginning. I’ve met people who are worse — if I’m just sitting or walking around in the heat at a leisurely pace I don’t sweat that much. But for any kind of real athletic activity my sweatiness is pretty exceptional.
