This seems about right for both the Angels in general and for the way they have handled injuries and communication the past decade.

What elite, aging corner infielder will be available the year Rendon's contract is over? I just want to get a head start on being excited to sign that player and then disappointed when his contract cripples the franchise for the following eight years. After Pujols and Rendon, it will be nice to get that angst out of the way now.

This season is pissing me off.

Maybe put Ward back at 3rd, and let Adell play everyday in RF?

Very good player when healthy. Alas, . . .

There's no question this needs to happen. That the Angels have yo-yo'd Adell the way they have is bad enough, but doing that so they can play Lagares is inexcusable. The offensive trio of Lagares-Wade-Velasquez at the bottom of the lineup is beyond pathetic.

Ward and Walsh came within a whisker of colliding the other night against LAD in the 5th on ball a wedged down the line, and picked up by Wade.
Andrew Wantz pitched the 8th.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is going on?
Quijada pitched, Syndergaaard pitched, Velazquez played SS, and KSuzuki was ready on the bench.
The Angels may not be winning much at baseball, but they are at Scrabble.

Man, I'd assign a coach just to make sure the Ward doesn't step on a crack before I move him to third ... 100% superstition time until that magical OPS cracks. (Plus he hasn't really played 3B since 2018 and apparently terribly.) Besides, Matt Duffy was created for times like this ... and Adell 33 Ks in 101 PA at AAA. Not that I blame Angels' fans for feeling cursed.

His offense is his defense.

The Angels just need to leave Duffy at second base. I really don't care what Adell does; even if he's bad, he's at least got upside, and he's not going to do anything at AAA except get frustrated and pick up bad habits. Using Lagares gets the Angels nothing for either today or tomorrow.

In that case, the "solution" to your problem (as with many teams) surely resides with the Cubs. Villar? Bote? (supposedly healthy soon but we've heard that before) Madrigal? Simmons? Pay no attention to their current stats, these are bonafide nearly competent MLers guaranteed to provide a level of entertainment not seen since the glory days of Yunel Escobar.

Adell ... I keep going back to that Trevor Bauer have a few players over for dinner video chat thing (in the pre "holy ####, you're THAT big of an #######\" days). It was Adell, some pitching prospect and Kenny Lofton. And Lofton is talking about reading pitches (paraphrased): "Ya gotta pick it up back here (hand behind head in pitching motion). If you wait for the release, it's already too late." Adell says something like "Nah, I'm doing good picking it up out of his hand." Lofton with a look that says: "Enjoy AAA son." (perhaps I read too much into it.)

The tubes (not The Tubes alas) tell me it was indeed Hunter Greene. It's on YouTube. Some discussion here where I reverse the story but same point.

Of course none of that means Adell won't put it together a la Buxton (for example) or that the Angels should waste time on (insert name) instead of finding out if Adell can figure it out.

Hey! Stop doing that!

157 OPS+ in 146 games at an infield position in the year before he signed with the Angels; I am not sure it was a bad signing.

11 - your stats show the “elite” but it was a 7-year contract for a what, 30 year old? While this turn of events might be close to worst case scenario, this contract was so very Angels in so many ways.

It has to be a good sign that Javy Baez didn't sign with them, doesn't it?

There are tons of ways Moreno could go. Let's face it, when it comes to the very big names, he's calling the shots.

1. Trevor Bauer if his suspension gets wholly or partially negated
2. Chris Sale
3. Nolan Arenado on the opt out - this is actually true perfect sign. Both expensive and old
4. JD Martinez - who doesn't need a DH?

And if the stars really align, Eric Hosmer would be a nice fit

And the Rendon contract kept them from signing Bryant.

Between the blow-up of the stadium/land deal, the losing streak, Maddon's firing, and now this, 2022 really is an annus horribilis for the Angels.

Not to worry, the Mariners are here to save the day….
