AP: MLB commissioner opposes deal to keep Cubs in Arizona

Bud Selig, consumer advocate for more than just a good hot dog and Diet Coke.

An Arizona attorney hired by Selig’s office says a proposal to create a surcharge on tickets to all Phoenix-area spring-training games is unfair.

Attorney Pat Ray made his comments during a legislative committee hearing Wednesday morning.

The legislation proposed by Phoenix Republican Rep. John McComish would add a $1 surcharge on auto rentals and an 8 percent surcharge on tickets to spring-training games played in Maricopa County.

Selig's lawyer's name is a lazy anagram of "Pay Rat."

It would be a nice kick to the sagging Arizona economy to lose the Cubs.

At the same time, it's hard to see how every Maricopa County Spring Training ticket should be subsidizing one team.

Any truth to the rumor he wants the Cubs to hold their spring training in Miller Park?

Just think of how many no-hitters that would mean for Z!
