1. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: December 02, 2021 at 01:55 PM (#6055883)Yep. Two teams in the Bay Area would undoubtedly cause a massive implosion which would eventually swallow the Earth.
Maybe the A's can change their name to something like the Angels. The Nevada Athletics at Tropicana of Las Vegas ball-team.
Rays will play half their games in Montreal, and the A's will play half their games in an equally ridiculous location. All things balanced, as they should be.
Thought maybe the A's were signing Torii Hunter.
That depends. How classy are the strippers?
Don't forget to pack a wife.
What does this mean?
Tropicana + strip (Tampa is a main strip club hub) = Tampa
Then I thought it might be something about strip coin ( a new cryptocurrency)
Glad it’s Vegas. Would be fun to see games there.
In some sense this might be the perception, but Oakland and Alameda County are still trying to lie down for the A's. The county already sold their 1/2 share (though the State of California may still litigate this) and the City has just about agreed to sell their 1/2 share, too.
City of Oakland considers laying down for the A's
All of this WITHOUT A DEAL FOR THEM TO STAY!
Of course a few different groups have now popped up trying to get the City's half of the Coliseum, right now the City has voted to sell their half to a group headed by Robert Bobb, the former City manager, and a number of community activists, and the other is headed by Dave Stewart, former A's pitcher. The City has said they are going with Robert Bobb, and who knows why various progressive media outlets think that's a good thing - they for some reason think they can lure an NFL team to Oakland, which just seems completely out of the question in the short- to mid-term.
You can buy a lap dance with a EFT from Jasmine for just $375,000.
I was expecting Anna Benson, not a NSFW pic. Well played, YC.
IMO both the city and county should tell them to pound salt and I say that as a huge A's fan. My feelings aside, though, it is not accurate to say Oakland isn't trying.
PLease, that had Madeleine Albright set-up all over it.
Yeah, the headline was super confusing.
They're buying the Trop and razing it? WTF
EDIT: Actually, there were two Wrigley Fields, right?
I was fascinated, though, to see how many larger media markets lack MLB teams. It's a long list!
#17 Orlando
#20 Sacramento
#21 Portland
#22 Charlotte
#24 Raleigh-Durham
#25 Indianapolis (I believe Indy had a Federal League team back in the day)
#29 Nashville
#30 Salt Lake City
#31 San Antonio
Seven of these nine markets have an NBA team. Infer what you will...
