I was at the game, and I'm impressed Bob Melvin kept him in the game in the eighth when he allowed one run to score, then loaded the bases to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs. Then he struck out Nick Solak and Rougned Odor and got a harmless groundout to get out of the inning. I'm still not sure if that's a case of Luzardo being great, or the youthful Rangers crumpling under pressure. Maybe both.

Jesus saves.

Most saves (in MLB) by a Jesus is 6, by Colome.

Most players named Jesus have been hitters, which is too bad. In simulation baseball I picked up a failed starter off the waiver wire in 1995, name of Jesus Gomez. Put him in the pen and as so often happens, he did great. Ended up with 45 saves and a 2.30 ERA. When a random number generator produces a new batch of numbers I always write narratives. So that season the fans of the Miami Stars filled the stadium with “Jesus Saves” signs. Gomez finished his career with 301 saves.
