Blindsided Joe Girardi mum on player’s sudden decision to take leave from team

Phillies manager Joe Girardi would not offer any specifics on why Adam Haseley left the team on Wednesday. Girardi said the club had not been planning a roster move with the 25-year-old outfielder, who had gotten off to a slow start this season.P

“I became aware of it today,” Girardi said before Wednesday night’s game against the Mets in New York.

“I spoke with Adam (on the phone.) We had a nice talk today and I think we all agreed that this was probably the best and we’ll move forward.”

Haseley was placed on the restricted list and outfielder Mickey Moniak was recalled from the alternate site. Moniak will see playing time in center field.

Girardi would not discuss Haseley’s reasons for taking leave.

“I’m not going to get into it,” he said. “It’s personal reasons. And we have no timetable. We’re all thinking about Adam.”

Why would Joe Girardi’s mom be blindsided by this decision ? Doesn’t Joe keep her informed about everything that’s going on ? Is there a rift developing between Joe and his mom ?

Adam D. Haseley notified team
He wouldn't go to bat and he had to take some leave
They had another look and sent him up to hit with bunting sign
Bunting sign?
The batter wouldn't bunt so they put him on the pine

D-backs had similar situation with Chris Devenski lately. I think he quit after giving up a big homer. Just went home. He's on restricted list too.

Could be something else of course.....these restricted list situations can be mysterious. Torey Lovullo refuses to discuss or disclose any information about it.

#3. Paul McCartney would be proud were he to read your post.
However, it is doubtful Paul is an MLB fan.
Not impossible, just doubtful.

However, it is doubtful Paul is an MLB fan.

Well, he did record "Single Pigeon", "Save Us" and, of course, "Band on the Run"...

Fairly certain I've seen Paul McCartney in the stands at multiple Yankee postseason games. Whether he's actually enjoying the game, or just likes to remind people that he exists, I could not say.

McCartney has been a Yankees fan for many years. He's an Everton supporter, if you're wondering if he's from the blue or red side of Liverpool.
