Bloggers Pushing Megan Fox to Play Baseball Prostitute

Buzz is building on the Internet for sexy actress Megan Fox to star as prostitute Carrie Stanhope in a movie version of the hot new baseball book, Fifty-nine in ’84.
[...]
“Megan Fox has the ‘it’ feeling. And it is being recognized now by people spanning from various fields,” reports meganfoxfans.org. “Recently she has found an unexpected admirer in Edward Achorn, author of the new baseball book, Fifty-nine in ’84.”

Achorn has been quoted as saying that Fox would be perfect for the role of Stanhope, who was married to the book’s subject, Old Hoss Radbourn, who won an all-time record of 59 games in 1884. Stanhope headed a dubious boarding house in Providence, Rhode Island, when she met Radbourn.

Not a headline I expected to see today, to be honest.

Web sites devoted to Megan Fox, from lovelymeganfox.com to aboutmeganfox.info, are exploring the idea. Even Megan Fox fan sites in India and Brazil are talking about the possibility.

“Megan Fox has the ‘it’ feeling. And it is being recognized now by people spanning from various fields,” reports meganfoxfans.org.
Hot dog, now that's solid news reporting! ("Megan, your career has the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?")

Plus, seems just a tad premature to speculate that a movie might be made about a biography of a 19th century baseball player that was released last week.

In any event, maybe this can actually make that Old Hoss Radbourn Twitter account funny.

For entertainment I thought I'd check if his 59 wins was in the old papers. First thing I found...

lists how no modern pitcher will equal his durability - 27 consecutive games. This was written in 1897. Amazing how little changes eh?

Not to start another objectification of women thread*, but I despise everything about Megan Fox with a passion I can't explain.

*which this shouldn't because I despise her both as an object and a human being

The correct answer is the exact opposite.

So you've managed to get past the thumb-toe issue then?

This reminds me of the play I wrote in high school. The funnest part was drawing up the preferred cast at the end. It had everyone from Stanley Tucci to Jeff Bridges and Donald Sutherland. It was actually kind of complicated because I wrote a scene where Sean Connery tortures Mordecai Richler to death, but then two days after I wrote it Mordecai Richler actually died...really gave me a ton of casting headaches. So I re-wrote it as Sean and Mordecai earlier in their lives and cast Daniel Richler and Ewan MacGregor instead.

Yes. It was a phase. It passed.

Alyssa Milano.

Isn't a late 19th century prostitute pretty much the role that Miss Fox will be playing in the Jonah Hex movie? (Ok, so this baseball movie won't be set in the Old West, but without being an expert in late 19th century U.S. prostitute attire, I doubt Eastern - in this case, New England - or Midwestern Hos wore attire THAT different from Old West prostitutes, at least during the warmish baseball season).

I've been pushing Megan to be a prostitute for a while, but she never answers my letters.

I have a feeling this is likely the cleanest, most family-friendly thing bloggers are pushing Megan Fox to do.

A similar article in AVN would probably read very differently.

Nice to have quantifiable proof that I have reached that certain age. The point in time in which I no longer "get" pop culture references.

I have no idea who Megan Fox is.

So, for me, I made it 48 years, six months, 11 days. It's all AARP membership, admonishments of those who won't get off my lawn and Alzheimer's from here on out. It's a fair cop.

Oh well, with Alex Chilton and Mark Linkous dying it's just as well.

I always assumed it stood for "Zounds!"

But that's probably wrong.
   25. Tom Nawrocki Posted: March 24, 2010 at 12:45 AM (#3484597)
It doesn't. The story I heard was that someone mistakenly typed ZOMG for OMG, and it looked so cool that other people began adopting it. I can't vouch for that, but it does look cool.

There are many similar internet neologisms that have come about through typos, like "pwn" or ending a long string of exclamation points with ones.

The idea behind zOMG is that when frantically reaching for the left shift button to type your all-caps exclamation, you hit the z which is next to it.

"I have no idea who Megan Fox is. So, for me, I made it 48 years, six months, 11 days."

Huh, I'm a couple of weeks OLDER than you, but it seems pretty hard to avoid all the publicity she gets - especially when some movie of hers comes out.
I'd say this is a good reason to have a younger wife (you know more about popular culture and thus people like this), but really there are 1000 better ones than that, lol.

And yeah, Fox is attractive, but in a "by the numbers" kind of way.

I don't get it either. That movie she was in about someone's body that was getting raves played like it was written by 16 year olds. Dumb 16 year olds. Can she be mesmerizing that many critics?

I think this is the press release version of buying a newspaper specially printed with your name in the headline.

For the right price, they'd probably start a rumor that she's auditioning for the role of VORP in Prospectus! The Musical.

This was the best part of this thread. I don't think I was aware of this book and I try to keep my ear to the 19th Century Base Ball ground.

I have read a couple interviews with Megan Fox. She is extremely self-aware. Her agents shaped her as the new Angelina Jolie, and she acted this way to get popular. In real life she is more a boring dork than a sultry temptress. She is also aware that she has only appeared in horrible movies, has displayed no acting talent, and is somewhat bewildered at her own undeserved fame.
