The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired left-handed slugger Corey Dickerson and right-handed reliever Adam Cimber from the Miami Marlins, multiple sources confirmed to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

In exchange, the Blue Jays are sending infielder Joe Panik and pitching prospect Andrew McInvale back to Miami.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman and Craig Mish were first to report the trade.

This move gives the Blue Jays two things its roster has been lacking this season: depth power from the left-side and a solid relief option.

Dickerson, a former all-star and Gold Glove outfielder, is hitting slightly below his career averages this season, posting a line of .260/.321/.377 with two home runs and 12 doubles. He is currently on the injured list with a foot injury and on June 22 Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Dickerson would be in a walking boot for a minimum of three weeks. The 32-year-old is in the final year of a two-year, $17.5-million contract and will be a free agent after this season.

My sister lives in San Diego county and used to go to see the Lake Elsinore team. Her favorite player all time from those games was Cimber. They called him the chicken because of the way he circles around the mound and his pitching motion.

I hated when the Rockies traded Dickerson to the Rays a few years ago, but they got German Marquez as a lottery ticket in that deal, and Marquez has become one of the most durable and consistent starting pitchers in the NL. Marquez already has more career WAR than Dickerson, and he's only 26.

This "prospect" doesn't make Fangraph's prospect board at all, so I guess this is just dumping (some of) Dickerson's salary?

slugger Corey Dickerson …
Never hit 30 HRs in a season (or even 28), and you’re a slugger? Hmm.

“ Never hit 30 HRs in a season (or even 28), and you’re a slugger? ”

That is kind of weak. Even some AL pitchers can hit 28.

Right on cue, German Marquez takes a no-hitter into the ninth, settling for a one-hit shutout of the Pirates.

Did you not read the part of the article where it said, "Marlins"?

this deal - modest as it is - doesn't exactly suggest that the Blue Jays fear the Yankees will leap past the luxury tax threshold to win at all costs. Yankees fans, this is not your father's Steinbrenner ownership...

I remember scoffing at a 1990s Gatorade ad that referred to Luis Gonzalez as "Chicago Cubs slugger". He probably had not hit over 15 HRs in a year at the time and just shows that I don't know anything.
