They're planning on sending Vlad Jr. down to make room once Revere is done with extended spring training.

If he's willing to sit in Buffalo and keep his mouth shut, Revere strikes me as the sort of cromulent replacement level outfielder every team should have stashed in AAA.

it's already 6+ years ago since the Phils traded Trevor May and Van Swirley for him. I guess he was a bottom of the barrel starting CF back then. I never liked him, probably because he symbolized the Phils giving up on competing.

For those who are nostalgic about the 2015 team but aren't that picky.

Ah, the May for Revere trade.* That was a real low point of a real low era. Former top arm in the system for a guy who basically had one tool, speed. He and Delmon Young were the symbols of post-2011 Phutility.

*I think I like the Van Swirley spelling, but that was a joke, right?

Indeed. Best used as a throwaway line in a larger joke.

Revere and Young together? You mean on the 2013 Phillies or the 2011 Twins? The 2011 Twins were bad, but it has to be worse when your team picks up the cast-offs from a 69 win team. Delmon was frustrating to watch, but Ben was a fine player (as long as you're just not all that into throws from beyond second base.)
