Bob Nightengale on Twitter: “Now that Aaron Judge has signed, the free agent dominoes are falling: Closer Kenley Jansen, 2 years, $32 million: Boston Red Sox. Starter Jose Quintana, 2 years, $26 million: New York Mets.” / Twitter

Desperation moves?

Are those dominoes? Hard to see how the Judge deal affects either of those in any way. It's just separate deals on the usual time schedule for free agency.

Judge is an extra-large domino, bound to nudge lots of other dominos as it falls. Good think Altuve wasn't FA this year, he'd have been crushed. (Agree with you, it's a silly intro by Nightengale.)

Huge trade between Oakland and Atlanta and Milwaukee ends up the big winner. Another Stearns heist. They are going to miss him.

Oakland asked for way too much from STL and got left holding the bag. This is a really mediocre return. Atlanta gets marginally better but also will likely extend Murphy and lock down the catcher spot for 5-7 years.

Don't know about William C's defense, but he was one of the best-hitting catchers in baseball last year---better than his brother even.

Nice upgrade for the Brewers, who got brutal production from their Cs last year---.202/.292/.316 (also still better than the Cardinals, who were .209/.261/.291).

Seems to be a tear in the space-time continuum ... or is that just New Zealand?
