1. Starring Bradley Scotchman as RMc Posted: January 25, 2023 at 10:48 AM (#6114371)Potentially.hiring an acolyte of Jeff "All This Winning Displeases Me" Bagwell doesn't fill me with hope and faith.
What is this referencing, for the non-Astros-fan?
The soft firing of GM Click on the heels of the World Series championship was reportedly influenced by Crane listening to Bagwell complaining that the Astros had become too reliant on analytics.
Exactly what bothered Bagwell so much about four pennants and two rings in six years was never made quite clear.
Good one.
Really, though, hiring Ausmus will be just another step on the road to mediocrity. He's not friendly to analytics, and Crane seems to be hell bent on a path of, "what we're doing is working so well that surely something needs to be changed."
Not that I'm even a Red Sox fan, but, shouldn't Boston consider sacking Bloom and getting Crick at this point? I mean, I suspect it'd be 2-4 years before even a high quality GM could fix them....but, why wait?
With Ausmus, they'd get both!
i guess crane doesn't listen to baggy THAT much that he'd just hire his pal. baggy is not the brains type guy. firing click was seriously dumbass. shrug
Later on, one of the players revealed that Ausmus knew so much about things because he watched CNN Headline news. Then I remembered, oh yeah, these guys are all jocks.
