To be clear, I literally mean "it's kind of funny." This isn't "Ha ha, you nerds got pwned" kind of thing. It ended up being a totally insignificant trade. Just found it a tiny bit amusing.
It’s kind of funny, but also probably the most common outcome of buying a prospect for assuming the salary of overpriced veteran type trades.prospects who can be bought that way are unlikely to be the cant-miss “Jarred Kelenic” types.
EDIT: Showing that the Mets should have signed Julio Rodriguez instead, then traded him for Cano. :-)
Curious question: who were the best players in history traded for petty cash (as opposed to great players like Babe Ruth traded from poor teams to rich teams for loads of cash)?
In hockey, checking-line center Kris Draper was traded to the Red Wings for $1, played over 1,000 games in a Detroit uniform, and won four Stanley Cups.
And just to tie a bow around it, Gosselin's now back here playing every other day with Ozzie on the shelf.
