Brewers-Cardinals game postponed due to positive COVID-19 test (report)

A positive COVID-19 test result has resulted in Major League Baseball postponing more games.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Friday’s game between the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals has been postponed due to a positive coronavirus test. Heyman reports that the Cardinals were the team with positive tests.

Did they even give players a chance to vote on this via text message?

It's the food, best food in the city at the strip club.

I think it was one of Jay Johnstone's books where he talked about Garvey taking him out for "the best lunch in town" on a road trip and discovering Garvey took him to a strip club. He said Garvey was all excited about the food and Johnstone couldn't stop starting at all the boobs hanging out.

They were just the regular lunch crowd.

Watch each game like it's the last game of the season for your team that isn't going to the playoffs, knowing you won't get to watch another one for 8 months

What's the differentiation between when a team has a positive test and plays the game (Reds, last week) and a team that has a positive test and postpones the game (Cards, today)?

Bad PR from the Marlins debacle.

Well yeah, he had probably already impregnated all the strippers.

The Marlins kept playing the guys they knew had covid, while the Reds pulled Matt Davidson after his positive test.

Maybe this has been covered elsewhere, but if you enter the game in extras and get the first batter to line out into a double play erasing the free runner and then get the next guy out, does that count as facing three batters?
   13. RoyalsRetro (AG#1F) Posted: July 31, 2020 at 03:39 PM (#5967186)
That would end the inning, so you don't have to face the 3-batter minimum anyway.

This whole plan by MLB is so stupid. It was always going to fail, and they didn't plan for that failure at all.

What a joke.

#7: Don't know. It might be "we have one positive test back out of 15 but we're still waiting for the other 15 results." Or "we have one positive test and it's now been 4 days since everybody else was last tested." Or "we have one positive test and 3 other guys reporting symptoms."

This is a microcosm of the havoc that delays in test results play. Really they need to isolate/sit any player showing any symptoms until they can get a test result. Getting tested Tues, hanging out with teammates Wed and Thu, finding out Fri you're positive ... that shuts down an entire team, requiring new test for everybody on Fri, not getting results until Mon/Tues ... when you might get a positive or two. (And of course as we all know, asymptomatic people can spread it as well but there's not a lot you can do about that risk unless you can test daily with instantaneous results.)

Here in Oz, the advice is ... if you experience any symptom, start to self-isolate and get tested as soon as you can. Continue to self-isolate until you have your results. If positive you are then required to self-isolate (and they do spot checks). Alas, so far in the Melbourne outbreak, it seems very few people self-isolate before they get tested, only about half self-isolate between test and result and yesterday it was reported that spot checks of positives turned up about 1/4 were not at home. Note Victoria even has an on-the-spot, "no questions asked" (i.e. some questions asked) hardship payment if you can't afford to self-isolate while awaiting results.

Well, the cards can’t score any runs so at least this way, the other team can’t either
