Carlos Beltran: Mets manager out after Astros’ cheating scandal

Another casualty. At this point, if MLB is really serious about really getting to the bottom of this problem and fairness, they need to investigate *EVERY* team. Let’s get another 20 managers and GM suspended.

Twitter thread with content of Jose running off the field post-HR to change into a t-shirt for the post-game interview., with pics of a post-game tank top'd Josh Reddick that may or may not reveal a wire.

Yeah, in lieu of simply putting the t-shirt over his jersey like everyone else, Altuve sprints to the dugout to put it on sans jersey. Very strange. He looks very guilty.

Boras is Altuve's agent and is pointing everyone back to the "wife, modesty" statement.
Ah, so now we *know* it’s a lie.

Other shots show that the thing in the Reddick photo that looks like a piece of tape holding a wire is actually a piece of confetti that got stuck to him during the celebration.

It’s hard to keep something like this secret - it would have to involve a player, a tech to wire it up and someone or several someone’s to decide signs and transmit the buzz. If true it can’t be secret long.

Yes: there’s a lot of craziness in the baseball world right now. At the end of the day, we have to do our job on the field and win the battle between the lines. Great things are to come this year. The boys will be ready. #LFGM

Holy crap this is fun to think about. If it were caught that freshly, what would happen?

Pine tar bat times a million.

Glad some people think this is fun because I think it's all fcuking terrible.

Are we certain that Reddick wasn't "Mic'd Up" for the TV broadcast, or do they only do that for the All-Star Game?

nvm

Now reported that Beltrán won’t get his Mets salary:
In jettisoning Carlos Beltran as their manager Thursday, the Mets came to an agreement with the 42-year-old that they wouldn’t pay him the approximately $3 million he was set to earn through 2022. Instead, according to multiple industry sources, the team made a donation of about $200,000 to Beltran’s eponymous Carlos Beltran Foundation, which helps youths in his native Puerto Rico.
Not a lot of money - I was surprised how little - but Beltrán had a pretty good claim to it. Maybe he’s hoping being cooperative helps him get back in the game quicker. Easy to do when you already made $220M+, I guess.

One explanation for the odd behavior around Altuve's jersey... he may have wanted to save it as a memento. This was the biggest (individual) moment of his career. He may have run to the dugout to stow it so it wouldn't be torn up, covered in beer, vomit, Taubman venom, etc. Tracing the jersey after that game might offer some insight... if it ended up as the centerpiece of Altuve's trophy case, was donated to the HoF or got sold for a bunch of money, that might explain a lot.

The Reddick picture has been convincingly debunked. Photos from better angles show it as a piece of confetti stuck to his gold chain.

Great time to be a fan of not the Astros and Red Sox.

Eh. Rockies still have no clue and will stink.

Are these guys responding to these charges? YOu'd think if they were innocent they'd be denying this vehemently. Instead what are they not talking? wow.

FYI, it hasn't come up here in the Beltran thread, but his apology was legit. Took total responsibility. As things go, impressive.

I'm not really on board yet with the ALTUVE'S VIBRATOR thing.

I agree, though I could without the "that's not who I am," because, well, it was you. Maybe just throw a "usually" in there.

Seems like he really wanted a ring at any cost. And the cost was his reputation (and job).

Coming soon: the “buzzer” is wired directly into the batter’s nervous system causing him to swing exactly where halChase9000 predicts the pitch will be thrown.
I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

Undefeated!

How many managers can say that?

I was hoping it would include Ted Turner, but the Braves lost that game.

This mission is too important for Us to allow Alex and Carlos to jeopardize it. We know Alex and Carlos were planning to disconnect the Dodgers and we can’t let that happen. Although they took very thorough precautions in the dugout, Jomboy could all hear your trashcans banging. You said you would keep managing but without Manfreds support that would be quite difficult

Carlos and Alex, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye
