Carlos Correa in contact with another team after Mets hiccup

Does Jon Heyman have a business card with Boras Corporation on it?

Carlos Correa’s camp renewed contact with at least another interested team or two beyond the Mets on Thursday as negotiations over proposed contract language changes in the agreed-upon $315 million, 12-year deal ran into at least a hiccup or two.

With the Mets situation still uncertain, it makes sense that Boras would continue to explore other options, but the article does suggest Correa & the Mets will eventually work things out. With the Twns apparently still comfortable with their $285M/10 year offer, the Mets only have limited leverage.

Are they?

Mets fan...please let this guy not play for us. We can suffer the ignominy of "limited leverage." Heck, I'll take Eduardo Escobar and "limited leverage" over Correa. It's bad enough having Verlander; I can only stand so many ex-Astros. Rusty Staub, however, would be acceptable.

"...another interested team or two..."

Um, the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions and the Kiwoom Heroes?

Jon Heyman is Boros' sock puppet.

That's "at least another interested team or two" ... to go along with "at least a hiccup or two." And this guy writes for a living while I give away shitty writing like this for free!!

Staub could probably still hit .260 or so for the Mets, even tho he's dead. (I'd give him 1/$8MM, just to see if he could shake off the rust.)

Shitty didn't get nannied?

It never has. It's a funny non-word or something.

Hey, Jerry Grote worked out pretty well.

I assume it's important to facilitate discussion of the old St. Louis Browns shortstop Walter "Shitty Batter" Dugan.

He couldn't. He's Rusty forevermore.

I believe "fall off the bone" as an attribute of tasty ribs may be pooh-poohed by some food snobs.

that said, the best ribs I ever ate in my life were at Rusty's in Manhattan circa late 1980s.

Now I'd say, 'we now return you to our regularly-scheduled Correa thread,' but...
;)

Which do we get first -- a Correa-Mets deal or a Speaker of the House?

Anyone seen Brett Baty field? Is he decent enough? That bat sure seems like it'll play...appropriately named.

A Speaker of the House.

The Phillies should offer 1-year at $60M with a player option for $20M and team option for $50M (blind simultaneous decision, ends up $35M if both exercise) for a second year and see if Correa would bite at it.

Twins - Correa talks “have begun to accelerate”:
Talks between the Twins and Carlos Correa “have begun to accelerate,” report Dan Hayes and Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic. Minnesota rejoined the bidding late last week as talks between Correa’s camp and the Mets continued to drag on after New York had expressed concerns regarding his physical.

Rosenthal and Hayes reiterate that the Mets are not necessarily out of the bidding. The Athletic characterizes discussions as “fluid.” It’s the firmest indication yet, however, that Correa to the Mets no longer appears an inevitability. Minnesota seems very much back in the mix.
No rush, plenty of time, let us know when something happens.
