Now playing on the East Coast, Rodón explained the main difference between the fans in New York and those in the Bay Area.
“The fans here want to win. They care. They care a lot,” Rodón said (h/t NJ.com’s Bob Klapisch). “Giants fans are invested, but not like in New York.
“Win or lose, you’re not going to get booed in San Francisco.”
On Sept. 4, Rodón said after the Giants’ 5-3 walk-off win over the Arizona Diamondbacks that San Francisco has “very faithful fans” and explained that Giants fans “care” and was “grateful” to them for continuing to support the team, even amid a long losing streak.

1. Rough Carrigan"Ummm.... we're a cabaret audience; we're mostly from Silver Springs, Arlington, etc. largely because we don't believe Washington is better than that."
(C'mon Walt, that's not fair. Some of the audience own million dollar condos in the city.)
(Note: Andy's probably talking about some performance from 1967.)
I remember when my favorite cabaret singer accused her audience of breaking into her hotel room and stealing her purse. ("C'mon, Washington, you're better than that!")
"Ummm.... we're a cabaret audience; we're mostly from Silver Springs, Arlington, etc. largely because we don't believe Washington is better than that."
Wrong on all counts, and way (not) to get the tongue-in-cheek context of my comment, though it was indeed a true story.
Now I have to go listen to Live Bullet again for the 400th time. Thanks a lot.
This made me laugh out loud, and is exactly what is going on here.
Along those lines, whenever I go to a concert for some big name musician, and it is in a relatively small city, I laugh at the invariable comments during the show from the star that go like this:
"You know, we've been on the road for five months now. It's hard to be away from your family, your friends. But the best part of touring is the people who come to our shows. [Crowd cheers.] We love all of our fans, but some places are even more special than others. The other day, we were flying between our shows at the Superdome in New Orleans and the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville, and I was like, "You know the one place I can't wait to spend a few days? The Verizon Wireless Center in Manchester, New Hampshire! Nowhere better in the world!"
That's all Rodon is doing, and I'd surprised if he didn't do it.
Just a city boy ...
Born and raised right here in Houston ....
Not the subtlest way to work the corporate name in there...
"I have to say this is the best show we've done in three years"
"Layne, it's the only show we've done in three years"
"well, it's still the best!"
I saw Harry Connick Jr. in Greenville, SC, and as he gushed about Greenville, I was thinking "here we go...". And then it turns out his daughter went to Furman, which is in Greenville, so all the talk about him loving to come back to Greenville was probably, at least a little bit, sincere.
