The New York Yankees and free-agent left-hander Carlos Rodon have agreed on a six-year, $162 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The agreement was first reported by New York Post.
Rodon set a career high for wins with the San Francisco Giants in 2022 in going 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA and made his second All-Star team. His 31 starts and 178 innings were a career high, and followed a 2021 season in which he went 13-5 with a career-best 2.37 ERA for the Chicago White Sox.

1. ERROR---Jolly Old St. NickIt may not match 2009's acquisition of Sabathia, Burnett and Teixeira, but you can't say that they aren't trying. Next stop: Re-signing Benintendi.
This helps to close the gap between the Yanks and the Astros, at least as long as everyone stays healthy.
He'd better be CC! With the Yanks Burnett was a one year wonder, and a minor one at that.
stick it, Yankees !
Is he any relation to C K Dexter Haven?
6 years for 162 for Rodon... jeez.
or the worst case, Carl Pavano.
He's been great the past two years, but signing a 30-yr-old pitcher with an injury history to a long-term contract on the heels of a career year seems risky.
But it's not my money. (I guess it's Rodon's now.)
I don't know that a history of durability buys you anything. It means you have more mileage on the arm, and pitchers are only durable until they aren't.
I assume the Yankees studied Rodon's medical files closely. If he's in good health, I'm not sure being injured four years ago tells us anything.
