The solution to the juiced ball is the juiced stadium

More errors! Must be that unjuiced ball. No one is used to catching it!

Unjuiced ball caused more errors then homers! News at 11:00.
   810. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: October 18, 2019 at 12:07 AM (#5891495)
Per John Smoltz, Altuve’s speed caused that error, because Smoltz likes to believe things like that.

Looking at highlights... did all three home runs so far tonight (Springer, Correa, Sanchez) hit the same seat in the LF bleachers?
   812. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: October 18, 2019 at 12:12 AM (#5891497)
One advantage of the pace/length of playoff games: I can catch the start of the game, go have dinner, go to a two-hour-plus condo association meeting, get back and still have an inning and a half left to see.

BTW, where are all the NY guys? They sure make a lot of noise when their team is winning?

One thing I can say about the Cub, Nats, Mets and Red Sox guys is at least we come and take our lumps when are teams are stinking it up.....

Not at the Stadium - they're about 5k short of capacity tonight. Maybe the weather there isn't all that fair.

Well Andy is like a 1000 years old, so I'll buy that.
Snapper has probably time travelled back to 1985
And Clapper is waiting for a Red Sox thread so he can post negative things about how badly the Red Sox are playing/managing/trading/hiring etc.

I watched part of last night's game at a bar next to a comely young lady from New Jersey who told me her family was at the Stadium. I asked how much they paid for their tickets, and she said $150 for the upper deck - which frankly was a lot less than I was expecting.

Yes, because the Red Sox fans on here are so charming and erudite when their team is winning. Seriously, does any Yankee fan who regularly posts on here - me, Snapper, Clapper, etc. put up "haha, suck on that" type posts when the Yankees do well? It's usually just "Yay, Gleyber." Lol

This is in your head. Seriously, just stop.

- at Yankee Stadium;
- Tanaka magic;
- mercurial Greinke

Mate, I was merely pointing out that you guys don't post at all when your team is not winning and pointing out that other posters here who support other teams are happy to continue posting even when their team is sucking wind. But hey, interpret what I posted anyway you like, your team is winning right now so I'm sure the Yankee guys will be very active for awhile.

The site is much better when there is a wide variety of supporters.

Yankees fans: is there hope for Urshela to maintain anything close to his regular season level next year? I read about his swing changes, but he seems to be returning to earth at alarming speed. Asking on behalf of a fantasy team.

Wouldn’t have bet on all the runs being scored in the first inning, but a win is a win. Yankees still have a steep path ahead, but it’s not impossible. As America’s greatest philosopher, Yogi Berra, once said: “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

   863. Howie Menckel Posted: October 18, 2019 at 11:29 PM (#5891828)
Miley is not on the ALCS roster - which is ridiculous

the fact that the Astros have no LH RPs in the 'pen is not so bad, since some of their RH RPs are tough against southpaws.

but this scenario + if a 20-inning game and other vagaries are why he needed to be one of the 25

Marly Rivera, ESPN Writer

Astros will send Brad Peacock to the mound to start Game 6. AJ Hinch announced it would be a bullpen day, and that he'll "likely" stay away from using Gerrit Cole.
Peacock pitched an inning yesterday. There had been some speculation that Jose Urquidy would get the nod.
   866. Howie Menckel Posted: October 19, 2019 at 05:42 PM (#5891965)
Yankee fan callers to WFAN radio were unanimous today in wanting Romine to catch tonight instead of Sanchez. Boone did not listen, alas.

one 76-year-old caller said that Romine is "now a better hitter" than Sanchez (though Sanchez won the OPS+ battle this year at 119 to 97).

expected departure of Romine, who turns 31 next month, to free agency will have callers gnashing their teeth for years - regardless of what Romine and his career 0.1 WAR (2.2 total over last 2 years, though) does elsewhere.

This game could be crazy, right? How many runs would it take for a team to be out of it? Hit a couple bad relievers, a team could very quick cough up a 4 run lead.

Aside from "Stanton sits" stat.

Lots of players have had a poor playoff without it meaning much for the rest of their career. Too soon to tell whether Urshela will be able to maintain his 2019 level (although he could regress a bit and still be a MLB regular). The league had all season to catch up to him, and he was pretty good, until the playoffs (which aren’t over).
