D-backs managing general partner decries ‘cheating’ in game

My Westie-lovin’ step-grandfather once cracked my head open with a delightfully ornate serving tray…because I pretended to pick my nose using the Storch bent knuckle routine. Ken Kendrick is far, far scarier.

“We all look to these guys as our heroes and heroes have responsibilities,” Kendrick said of his message to the team. “And what a hero does is he always does the right thing and he does it all the time. So I talked to them about thinking about what the right thing to do is in every setting and particularly when the temptation to take performance-enhancing drugs is there.

“What you want to do when talking to your players, you just want them to think about the harm drugs can cause both to their bodies and to the game. And you appeal to them on a personal level, that cheating is not the way to succeed in life whether it’s in sports or any other place. Taking drugs is cheating and I don’t like it, and I don’t have any problem saying it.”

...Kendrick watched Rodriguez’s news conference on Tuesday with his 13-year-old son.

“My son finally turned to me and he said, ‘Daddy, this guy is stupid,’” Kendrick said. “That probably says it all.”

...“My attitude is that you have privacy rights on the part of the players on the one hand and you have the integrity of the game on the other,” Kendrick said. “It’s probably obvious where I stand in that I think that the integrity of the game outweighs an individual’s rights.”

And there's the ####### problem...

His 13 year-old son still refers to him as "Daddy"?

Bulls#*t. 13 year-old boys talk in one-syllable grunts. I teach them all day.

They do, however, refer to most things as "stupid".

I didn't RTFA. I thought is kid meant Rich Rodriguez (Kendrick is a big WVU booster/PTA).

No kidding. I am going to place you on a pedistal whether you like it or not and you better damn well live up to that standard which, by the way, is basically perfection.

“And what a hero does is he always does the right thing and he does it all the time."

Yeah, that's realistic.

I strongly disagree. They refer to most things as "retarded."

Rich Rodriquez is the greatest football coach of all time. The university would have been stupid not to give him a huge new contract as soon as he demanded it, and a year after he signed it and was heading out the door to Michigan they would have been stupid to insist he pay the buyout he agreed to, and if not for the negativity WVU heaped on their greatest son, Michigan would have been national champions this year.

Sincerely
Ken Kendrick

Note to Ken,

Shutup!

P.S. Or you can open your big yap and start publicly speculating again on which of your players was on steroids or not, which ones were taking greenies, in the name of honesty. And if you honestly believe the bilge and inanities that come out of your mouth about "cheating" you can start planning a big ceremony to return the World Series Championship you stole from the Yankees by playing those roiders.

Wonder what Kendrick would say if he found out someone like Matt Williams or Gonzo came up positive at some stage in his career?

Which team had more roiders, the 2001 D'Backs, or the 2001 Yankees?

I'm going to say that Challenger the Pre-Game Freedom Eagle was juicing his tailfeathers off, which tips it to the Yanks' side.

Wrong again.
According to teenage boys, everything/body else in the world is "gay".

Is it 'gay' if boys likes girls?

Scary, scary stuff. That's seriously f***ed up.

Absolutely right. I just couldn't overcome the sensitivity I've developed since then to write what they actually say.

I fibbed. Everything indeed "sucks" or is "gay".

If it has to do with school, though, it's usually cleaned up and presented as "boring".

As long as it's someone ELSE'S rights being violated, he's cool with that.

My guess is he's hardcore, though, about government spending.

A managing general partner's views on privacy and due process are about as valuable and insightful as the attorney general's views on shoring up the Arizona bullpen.

you know what this means - now I don't use the word "hero" loosely, but clearly Eric Byrnes is the greatest hero in American history

"Wonder what Kendrick would say if he found out someone like Matt Williams or Gonzo came up positive at some stage in his career?"

You mean Arizona's Special Assistant to the General Partner Matt Williams? The one who was named in the Mitchell report as a user of both steroids and HGH, with corroborating records from the Palm Beach clinic? That Matt Williams?

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

Maybe his kid was calling him stupid because of the civics lecture.
