Diamondbacks prospect uses anger over Giants’ Daniel Jones pick to smash three home runs

Since picking Duke quarterback Daniel Jones sixth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday, general manager Dave Gettleman has been an immediate and frequent target of criticism for New York Giants fans.

To fans of the Reno Aces, however, he’s probably garnered nothing but thanks.

The same night Gettleman declared Jones as the heir apparent to Eli Manning, the Aces stomped all over the Fresno Grizzlies in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, and one of their hottest players—Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Tim Locastro—apparently drew inspiration for a career-best three-home-run night from anger over the Daniel Jones selection.

On the one hand, the energy is a positive- on the other hand, ideally the average baseball player will know as much about football as they do about polo…..

Huh? You don't think pro athletes should pay attention to other popular sports?

I keep clicking on this thread, coming back to how absolutely ridiculous the premise of the article is.

I thought it was strange that he was upset by either a pickoff or a great defensive pick by somebody named Daniel Jones who plays for the San Francisco Giants. I don’t understand this at all.

Apparently, Tim Locastro is a "method" ballplayer: you take the emotions from your real-life experiences and channel them into the emotions you need on the field. Now, why you would be ANGRY about something like this before you even see how it turns out (unless you had a huge bet down on the draft itself) I can't imagine, but people think crazy #### all the time. Whatever works, I guess.

I once knew a guy who as a kid wrote a sequel to Spartacus that was predicated on the idea that getting someone really angry can give him superpowers. The movies starts with a crucified and dying Spartacus still up on the cross. Some Roman soldier jackass walks by and starts making fun of him, which causes Spartacus to get so enraged that he rips the spikes out of the cross and uses them to stab the soldier to death. The story writes itself from there.

Tim Locastro is the Spartacus of Reno.

There was already the Hulk, though that dude was clearly on PEDs.
