Evan Gattis says his 2017 Astros ‘cheated baseball and cheated fans’

“ Not mad at people hating us — just mad, like kind of on the fans’ side,” Gattis continued. “Not everybody was super-happy about the cheating. … They were teammates, and maybe they didn’t feel like they were in a position to say anything. And they’re living with it right now. I could have said some [expletive], I could have done something, but I did not. Definitely not.”

Finally, one real apology. Offset to some extent by his calling out of Fiers a week earlier.

Of course, he is now an ex-baseball player who can’t be controlled by management so we get real remorse. Another sign that MLB is putting a lot of pressure on players to not say too much.

If 30-45 players and coaches said this, the movement to take away the trophy would be unstoppable. He all but says the title is an ill-gotten gain.

And of course, what happened on the Astros in years 2018-2019 is the real untold story. Who knows what they got up to and still might be getting up to. Who believes they just stopped after such amazing success in 2017?

“ . . . , what happened on the Astros in years 2018-2019 is the real untold story.“

The real untold story here is how MLB dodged a bullet. Imagine where we would be if all else happened just as it did (and is) except the Nationals didn’t come back in game seven and lost the 2019 WS to he Astros. We would not only see the damage we have in terms of fallout from the scandal but additionally we would have a sitting champion whose championship was in question. While I have seen no evidence that the 2019 Astros cheated in this or any other manner, I must assume that looking for such evidence would be a popular way of killing time during the shutdown. That would appear to be a much larger problem than what MLB is currently facing.
