HOW WILL THE ANGELS WIN TODAY?!

HOW WILL THE METS STARTER PITCH WELL AGAIN TODAY?

lowest team ERA by SPs, 2021

Mets 2.97
Dodgers 3.02
Giants 3.27
Brewers 3.30
Marlins 3.32
Astros 3.32

Marlins pitching just took a hit as Sanchez is out for the year after shoulder surgery.

cards up on the jints 5-1 in the ninth, shildt brings out reyes to pitch.

i'm thinking i know we need the win, but really, nobody else can hold a 4-run lead?

before i can finish typing this reyes allows a walk and two hits, run has scored, nobody out.

this team makes me nuts.

Mets' Edwin Diaz is.... high maintenance.

you have to give him regular work, but you can't use him in a non-save situation (check his stats).

after 5 days off, he comes in at 4-1 so ok, then allows 3 runners to reach and one to score - and it's 4-2, first and second, none out, and a 3-2 count.

#fullpack

finally he gets his act together and the Mets beat the Brew Crew, 4-2 in a preview of their NLDS series in October.

Cubs-Phils 2-2, Harper up with a 3-1 count. pitch just nicks the corner - perfect. but Harper has removed most of his medieval-era defensive armor first, and he does not say "that was a clown call, bro" but he said something.

next pitch is low, ball 4 - and David "Captain Queeg" Ross is tossed - then comes out to, as MLBN noted, "get his money's worth" even though the pitch was a strike.

All-Star Trea Turner, out since his Birthday Cycle with a jammed finger from sliding into 3rd on his triple, returns to the line up with a 1st-inning HR against the Padres.

Halfway Alert: Turner singles in 2nd.

Wheels are off in the 8th for the Cubs and they look destined to make it 10 straight.

Halfway Alert: Turner singles in 2nd.

And it's only in the 2nd. Turner will have at least 3 more chances to snare the double and elusive triple in that time. Cycles are really fun and it'd be great to see him grab another one.

at least we got off the 1-run loss treadmill.

I'm never quite sure about these things ... are we Cub fans now allowed to stick a fork in this season and close the window without being whiny, privileged bastards?

Nick Castellanos hit another HR at Kauffman Stadium, again during an awkward moment (the Royals broadcast was somberly eulogizing the WWI veteran father of the former equipment manager)

Red Sox due for another win. The sure sign that the opponent has thrown in the towel is when Danny Santana singles in a run, he of the .544....OPS.

The Angels have just gotten butchered by good teams. They're 3-6 against Houston, 3-7 against Oakland, 1-6 against Tampa, and about to fall to 1-3 against Boston.

Luis Rengifo's astonishment at being called out on ball four says everything about tonight for the Angels.

20 years. you have to endure a single, short generation of not winning before a fan base doesn't come across as "whiny, privileged bastards."

:)

although Cubs fans over like, age 85 - I might consider an appeal.

it's literally the only, tiny downside of your team winning a title. it's a helluva tradeoff.

whining-entitled fan bases, MLB, ranked:

- Indians
- Padres
- Brewers
- Rangers
- Mariners
- Pirates
- Orioles
- Tigers
- Mets
- A's
- Reds
- Twins
- Rockies
- Blue Jays
- Braves
- Rays

and given this year, let's add the Diamondbacks already.
Angels appear to be coming up next year.

Cubs fans only outrank 4 teams so far.

but like at the NHL Rangers - they led the field with 54 years of suffering until 1994, and it seemed like they would never move up the ladder. but now they are halfway there again, at 27 years, and again qualify for the list.

I keep seeing people say this, but in 2019 his ERA in save sits was 6.37 vs 4.76 in non-save sits. Last year, 2.53 vs. 1.20. He’s had a few bad outings this season in NSSs but I wouldn’t read too much into it.
