Ex-Mets ace Jacob deGrom already has health issues at Rangers spring training

Texas Rangers pitchers and catchers report to spring training Wednesday, but Jacob deGrom will be delayed a day.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports: Jacob deGrom won’t throw today due to some soreness in left side but more about cold weather, wet conditions. Chris Young said Rangers decided to push him back a day

DeGrom, 34, signed a five-year, $185 million contract with the Rangers this offseason. The two-time Cy Young Award winner had been with the New York Mets since his MLB debut in 2014.

They should try making the headline a little bit more hyperbolic.

name sounds vaguely familiar, can't quite place him....

New York media's attitude towards deGrom has been ridiculous. Dude is allowed to sign with another team.

...and so it begins...

The dreaded left side soreness... He'll probably be found at the bottom of a lake by this weekend.

He'll probably be fine, but if not, this is why Texas signed Martin Perez, Jake Odorizzi, Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Heaney, Javier Vazquez, Todd Stottlemyre, Mike Boddicker, and Ewell Blackwell.

It's the 6' 11" Chris Young who pitched for Princeton before making it to MLB.

yes, that must be it.

my former workplace seatmate dated that Chris Young in college. wound up marrying someone else, and I got a vague feeling she regretted it (at least, while she was still only dating the other guy. no idea how that did or did not work out).

#7: C'mon Fergie (#4 all-time in Rangers wins) is still alive and looks like he could still give 'em 150 innings a year.

Maybe Chris Young can suit up to pitch a few innings as well.

I mean, left side soreness is nothing, but if I put the over under on number of starts this year, 15 sounds about right. And last year he wasn’t even dominant when he did pitch.

You forgot Jamie Moyer.
