The way the Red Sox are hitting I’m not sure it matters if they play 163 or the WC game.
The 2nd half lines of Boegarts, Devers, and Martinez are all ugly in their own unique ways. Devers has only slugged .420 over the last two months. Xander equaled that for July & August. JD's home run totals for all months after April 30th are 3/4/4/4/4, tho he still somehow slugged .474 over that span.

Left ankle injury for JD Martinez. They tried to sweat it out for a couple of innings but then PH for him.

Well, good thing they left him out there to chase down Avila's 2-run double.

Nifty play by JP Crawford. But the Mariners need to get the bats going

I'd say Sawx haters, IIRC JAHV is an Angels fan and Walks clogging guy is a Cubs fan, but I could be misremembering.
IF you'd said told me at the beginning of the season the Sox would be 3 outs away from hosting the WC game, I would have said, did it only take 83 wins to get that?

Can't tell if these people here are disgruntled Nats fans or Sawx Haters...
The people who root for either the Sox or the Yanks think they know how much the rest of us hate watching Sox-Yanks. Y'all underestimate how putrid this match-up is for the rest of us, and how much we hate y'all for it. Yes, I speak for everyone.

#340: actually I don't blame you all for that, specifically. If I kept seeing say the Dodgers vs. the Giants every year, yeah I'd get sick of that too.
anyone else think the Rays were sorta dicks for not cushioning Urshela at all as he went into their dugout? I know there's a fine line between helping someone and hindering their catch, but one guy could have at least attempted to slow him down.

I echo this sentiment, although I will omit the "y'all's."
I am, admittedly, a Yankees and Red Sox hater. I hate the Yankees on principle, but the Red Sox got on my last nerve during the 2000's when they started having success in the playoffs, a lot of it against the Angels (and there's always '86). I've been to dozens of Angels-Red Sox games at Anaheim Stadium, and their fans are always the most obnoxious and belligerent. So it's not just random or jealous - it's a well-earned hatred.
But putting aside my Angels fandom and as a baseball fan, that matchup has been shoved down our throats for years and years, and I'm tired of it. There's no more interest there for me.
Edit: And the chaos would have been a lot of fun.

Be grateful that it's not an entire playoff series, or even worse, the ALCS.

Lost in all the playoff hoopla was Josh VanMeter‘s walkoff HR for the D-Backs. That win gives Baltimore the #1 pick in next year’s draft, and a larger $$$ pool. When that ball cleared the fence Oriole fans were cheering like they’d gotten into the postseason.
I am not down on NYY/BOS as the WC game. I find the historical aspects of the rivalry to be pretty interesting, and I either listen to games on the radio or watch muted telecasts so that kind of helps to avoid the throat-shoving aspect. I have had annoying ballpark experiences with visiting fans of LAD, SF, CHC, STL, NYY, NYM, and BOS, so I do get that part.
But the teams are pretty good and very even, so I will check it out. I am however bummed that Toronto and their killer core of hitters are not in postseason. I think they are probably the second-best team in the AL and the one that I personally enjoy watching the most.
If the Dodgers win the WC game, I would have the same view of a LAD/SF Division Series as I do of NYY/BOS WC. I am kind of sick of both teams, but it will be some good baseball with an interesting context.

Yanks and Red Sox in a Texas cage match. As it should be
Dodgers probably lost Muncy which means we might see Pujols against Cards in game 163 - maybe his last game ever

Blah, blah, blah. Instead of hating on 2 teams that manage to have continued success maybe you should direct your negativity on your own team's owner for not hiring Friedman, Bloom, Zaidi or any of the actual innovative GMs(or whatever their titles are now) to run your team. Every team receives more then enough cash to spend on players, some choose not to...and some of those are still good!
Sure, I'd love for the Sox to win it all this year, but it would be super cool to see the Rays or Brewers take it out also.

Of course I want to see the Yanks to break out of their longstanding postseason miseries,** but if I had to pick a team to beat the NL's best, I'd go with the Rays.

Not that it would matter to a normal person, but why did Judge get a hit. Shouldn't it have been a Fielder's choice?

I've seen it scored this way before. I suppose the logic is that if if they don't retire the batter because doing so would concede the winning run, it has to be scored a hit.

Joey Gallo: I realize there are 100s of ways you could make crazy stat combos with his ##s, but here is one I observe:
2021 rank in AL
strikeouts - most 213
batting AVG - last .199
walks - first 111
home runs - tied for 10th with 38

most comparable season I see is Adam Dunn, 2012
2012 rank in AL
strikeouts - most
batting AVG - 2nd to last
walks - first
home runs - 5th

Spot on again. Moreno is an idiot. He can't sell the team too soon for my tastes (there are no reports that this is even an option).
The Yankees and Red Sox can go right to hell with him.
