Fire breaks out at Globe Life Field, the new Texas Rangers stadium

It’s never good when this happens.

A fire broke out Saturday afternoon inside the new Rangers ballpark sending a pillar of black smoke into the sky above the still under construction stadium, scheduled to open next year.

The blaze was out within about a half-hour after it started, and no one was injured, according to the Arlington Fire Department.

Boy, it does get hot in Texas, doesn't it...?!

Ah, the smoke rising indicates the Rangers have selected a new third baseman.

It was the air-conditioning system catching fire.

One Fire One Ranger.

They can always go back to their old ballpark, or even their old old ballpark. Or just build a new one. After all, ballparks are a dime a dozen anymore...

Isn't it the old building that they want rid of that's supposed to go on fire?

They can always go back to their old ballpark,

Actually, they can't. It's already been torn up and modified to be a football field for the XFL team that is playing there.
If there is any delay, they'll probably have to play "home games" on the road and swap series (if the other teams are okay) or play in a neutral site (Houston?).

The XFL still exists?

#7, yeah, I know. And the old old one now has a highway going thru it.

Re 8: The XFL reappears every so often, like Brigadoon.

Early reports are that this shouldn't delay the opening of Globe Life Field, but stay tuned. You never can tell with the Texas Rangers.

Like Brigadoon, but slightly less classy.

Maybe they could play at Frisco's park? It's AA, and it can only accommodate ~10,000, but at least it's not too far from Arlington.

If worst comes to worst, SMU, TCU, and UT Arlington all have baseball stadia with plausible dimensions for a MLB game.

Ironic, since Shakespeare's Globe was destroyed by fire.
