Former MLB Pitcher Sergio Mitre Under Investigation for Rape, Murder of Two-Year-Old

Former major league pitcher Sergio Mitre was arrested on Monday for drug possession, and is being investigated for the rape and murder of a two

-year-old girl, according to a report from El Heraldo de Saltillo.

There’s no way to absorb that news, because if that allegation is true, it’s as heinous a crime as is imaginable, let alone trying to fit it into a historical perspective of crimes committed by professional athletes.

The victim, described by the newspaper as Mitre’s “hijastra,” which literally translates to “stepdaughter,” was the daughter of the 19-year-old whom the 39-year-old Mitre has been living with in Saltillo for the past three months.

Mitre, who served a 50-game drug suspension in 2009 while with the Yankees, also was arrested for a domestic violence incident in Mexico last September, and his team, Saraperos de Saltillo, put out a statement condemning domestic violence, then suspended Mitre indefinitely. Mitre was released from prison with an electronic bracelet.

Christ, what an #######.

Is this the worst crime ever committed by a ML player? The only other option that comes to mind is Marty Bergen.

suspended indefinitely, but according to Wikipedia was reinstated before the 2020 non-season.

I can't imagine a worse individual crime committed by anybody. Serial rapists and killers may be worse criminals, but there can't be a worse single crime.

I was going to say the same but didn't know how to even frame it. It doesn't get any worse than this.

i cannot even begin to understand how any male could find a toddler sexually attractive and yes i know about the weirdos who have been arrested for putting youknowwhat in park benches, pool cleaner thingys, picnic table holes where the umbrella supposed to go. for starters.

maybe i simply can't understand the urge to stick it SOMEwheres anywheres. i mean, i don't got the urge (and no female i know got the urge) to stick something ANYthing up youknowwheres. you don't see no females getting arrested for doing weird things with cucumbers or bananas in the fruits and veg section. and no gettin freaky with the vacuum cleaners or brooms in the home depot. let alone toddlers

Certainly not on the level of the Mitre allegations—not even close—but just last week "Mary Kay Letourneau, Teacher Who Raped Student and Then Married Him, Dies at 58."

You don't know any women that feel this way so = it must not exist? That's some really awful logic. If you want to try a Google search there are many, many articles you can find of adult women teaching high school having sex with males under 18, and often much younger. Try it and see how many you can find (note- this will take a few days). Painting it as an issue for only f'd up males is ignorant and completely undermines the issue. You've seriously never heard of a mother or female babysitter sexually abusing a child?

Stuff like this isn't a "choice." As far as a two year old...people don't just decide children are attractive. It's usually the result of their being abused as children or some other kind of psychological imprint that causes them to identify children with sexuality. It's very sad. Our society deems them as monsters when they clearly have severe psychological issues that they have no idea how to deal with.

tin

i suppose there actually are females who rape/molest people under the age they go through puberty, but i have not read about any. and i don't think it is ok to brush away/dismiss/laugh about adult females who rape (yes statutory) teenagers. I know a few males who this happened to and it messed them UP although they thought they consented at the time.

people who act out their sexuality by raping (pre-pubertal) children are, in fact, monsters. we pretty much all have psychological trauma and the vast majority of us don't end up raping/molesting little children. the rapists are not always themselves raped as children. i don't know what causes them to do that, but i find it odd that they are always males (find me ONE female who has been caught by a pedophile ring bust) and it's not like they are raped/molested at such a greater rate than females that the numbers are massively overwhelming. even if you talk about post pubertal teens, the male rapists/abusers are so much more common that we even remember the names of the few females who have been caught. i can't find any female teacher who has been caught raping/molesting a pre-pubertal student

fun fact:

Letourneau's brother John Schmitz was the deputy counsel to President George H. W. Bush.[12] Her other brother, Joseph E. Schmitz, was Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Defense under President George W. Bush, as well as a senior executive with Academi, and is a foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump.[16]

fun fact:
... [Vlad] had a big copper cauldron built and put a lid made of wood with holes in it on top. He put the people in the cauldron and put their heads in the holes and fastened them there; then he filled it with water and set a fire under it and let the people cry their eyes out until they were boiled to death. And then he invented frightening, terrible, unheard of tortures. He ordered that women be impaled together with their suckling babies on the same stake. The babies fought for their lives at their mother's breasts until they died. Then he had the women's breasts cut off and put the babies inside headfirst; thus he had them impaled together.

— About a mischievous tyrant called Dracula vodă (No. 12–13)[150]
Joseph Pitton de Tournefort, travelling on botanical research in the Levant 1700–1702, observed both ordinary longitudinal impalement, but also a method called "gaunching", in which the condemned is hoisted up by means of a rope over a bed of sharp metal hooks. He is then released, and depending on how the hooks enter his body, he may survive in impaled condition for a few days.[14] Forty years earlier than de Tournefort, de Thévenot described much the same process, adding that it was seldom used because it was regarded as too cruel

F*** that, it's a choice. 99.99% of people who are abused don't go out and rape and murder two year olds. As Scipio said, life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it.

A non-monster recognizes his disordered desires and doesn't act upon them, and seeks help. A monster rapes and murder a two year old.

If these people can't help themselves, but rape and murder, then it's even worse. They have to be locked up forever. They're mad dogs.

   13. Mayor Blomberg Posted: July 14, 2020 at 11:39 PM (#5962960)
Ahhh, snapper, I hate to break it to you but humanity is more complex than your this or that. Not a defense or excuse of the action, just that teaching in prison does things to one's desire to nicely compartmentalize people.

Tin Angel: "Our society deems them as monsters when they clearly have severe psychological issues that they have no idea how to deal with."

Snapper: "A non-monster recognizes his disordered desires and doesn't act upon them, and seeks help. A monster rapes and murder a two year old."

Glad the two of you agree.

A non-monster recognizes his disordered desires and doesn't act upon them, and seeks help.
a few important caveats here:

1: catholicism does not treat one sin as being "worse" than any other. and so, for the majority of my life, people like snapper have equated raping and murdering 2-year olds with consensual gay sex among adults. it's almost heartworming to see that snapper has rejected that line of "all sin is sin" teaching, i assume, in light of the ongoing headlines and lawsuits and coverups of the facilitation of mass child rape within the catholic church and its associated private educational system.

2: "acting upon" one's sinorious desires is another fun little nugget of morality to dig into here. once again, for most of my life, a murdering child rapist is allowed to repent for their sin in the eyes of people like snapper, whereas LGBTQ people such as myself, are declared to be "living in sin" if we're unwilling to be celibate (or submit to torture in order to suppress our non-heteronormative desires). i suspect snapper's beliefs in this regard may have changed, but i wouldn't be surprised if he's still on the right and moral side of the murdering child rapists.

3: "If these people can't help themselves, but rape and murder, then it's even worse. They have to be locked up forever. They're mad dogs."

-- all sin is sin.
-- homosexual desire is a sin.
-- 'A non-monster recognizes his disordered desires and doesn't act upon them'
-- 'if these people can't help themselves, then it's even worse. they have to be locked up forever. they're mad dogs'

with a moral compass like that, is it any wonder that the suicide rate for gay youth throughout most of my life was 8+ times the national average.

If so much of your interaction with other people occurs on the internet that you've lost the ability to distinguish a loutish reaction from an acceptable one, then maybe you need a break.

a man ###### a toddler to death (allegedly).

now, i will acknowledge that my sense of humor runs a bit dryer and a bit darker than is typical, and so i move past the horror of that act more quickly than i probably should, but let me assure you: i do not support such acts of child rape, child molestation, or murder.

i am, however, quite familiar with the existence of a religious sect that does not take such a hardline stance on those matters.

as for the loutish-ness:

yeah, i actually am kind of sorry about that; it really isn't a good thing (that's not sarcasm, in case it's not clear). but i guess that's just my cross to bear in these dark, dark times.

I was at Sergio Mitre's major league debut, for the Cubs, in Atlanta. 10 or 12 members of his family were sitting a few rows behind me. They were very excited and happy to talk to me since I was wearing my Cubs gear and knew who he was. He was facing Greg Maddux, and he got rocked and chased in the 4th inning, but his family was a joy and it was still a very nice experience. I really, really hope he is innocent of these crimes.

There are pedophiles out there who don’t go around raping children. Being a pedophile isn’t a choice any more than being a foot fetishist is a choice. Being a *rapist* is a choice. If Mitre did this, he is in fact a monster.
