Former President Donald Trump to attend World Series Game 4 in Atlanta

Former President Donald Trump said he plans to attend Game 4 of the World Series between the Atlanta Braves and the Houston Astros at Truist Park in Atlanta on Saturday.

“Looking forward to being at the World Series in Atlanta tonight,” Trump said in a statement Saturday, adding that he and former first lady Melania “are looking forward to a wonderful evening watching two great teams!”

He thanked MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and New York Yankees’ president Randy Levine for the invite.
Atlanta Braves CEO Terry McGuirk told USA Today on Wednesday that Trump will not be sitting with team or MLB officials and that the Braves will give Trump his own suite.

“He called MLB and wanted to come to the game,’’ McGuirk told the paper. “We were very surprised. Of course, we said yes.’‘

Supporting MLB after they took the all-star game away from Atlanta? Sounds like a real beta cuck.

I'm hoping he gets tons of boos if/when they show him on the screen. Ideally someone dumps a drink on him. I haven't watched the WS so far and this just keeps encouraging me to avoid it.

Can imagine a Uecker-ish Lite beer commercial where he says "the good thing about being an ex-president is that you call up the front office and they give you a ticket". Then he sits in a luxury box and an usher says "no not this box Mr. President" and you see him go behind a closed door and hear "ump you're fired" then they pan out and it's a restroom.

So you're suggesting Trump belongs in a restroom because he's a turd? That makes sense.

It beats overthrowing democracy to protest imaginary election fraud, I suppose. But that is a mighty low bar, indeed.

I'm in my usual "pox on both their houses" position on this, but it sure looks an awful like it's the leftists starting the "culture war" here.

Those of us old enough can remember Jane Fonda and Ted Turner chopping away from the front row during the early 90s World Series including at least once with Jimmy Carter himself sitting right next there by them. There was certainly an element then that bemoaned the chop, but the difference then is that there wasn't a media ecosystem driven by clickbait and perpetual round-the-clock emotional outrage, performative or otherwise. Repeating, it's not really my cup of tea -- very few things that big mass crowds of middle-aged middlebrow white people do are -- but it's also not really that big a deal.

Yep. And if they’re going to have the mentality of bratty 12-year-olds, that’s fine, as long as they don’t insist on being treated like adults when it comes to, say, voting,
   29. Starring Bradley Scotchman as RMc Posted: October 31, 2021 at 02:07 PM (#6050355)

Whether you agree with it or not, the Democrats are at least trying to pass a spending bill right now that would benefit millions of Americans. I personally don't like everything that was in there (i.e. free community college), but it's at least something that's intended to help the citizens of this country. Yeah, the left gets into the culture war stuff, but it's not the party's entire modus operandi the way it's become for the GOP.

They should just get off the internet for a few days and clear out the dopamine. They just sit around seeking out things that are going to put themselves into emotional tumult ... so they can then come and seek therapy from the other tumulted on the internet. It's a strange phenomenon, to say the least -- though certainly good for the pocketbooks of Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, and the like.

Both sides always believe the other side is the bulk of the problem. (And that includes me; I consider myself center-right because I think the wacko Left is worse than the wacko Right, albeit only slightly.) The TV news networks and social media titans have made billions of dollars off this.

the Democrats are at least trying to pass a spending bill right now that would benefit millions of Americans.

Yeah, the millions of Americans who put them in office in the first place, with plenty of pork for the lawmakers themselves. (The GOP is no better, of course.)

We were once a country that went places and did things. Now, we go nowhere and do nothing, and we blame each other for it.

Sigh.

Zuckerberg and Dorsey and whatever Sulzberger is now publishing the Times absolutely love a captive audience sitting at their computers or on their phones doing nothing but drooling with outrage and looking for the next dopamine hit. From a purely soulless business perspective, they've done a masterful job at creating one. It's run the country into the ground, but, hey -- the business of America is business.

It's a good thing all right. I've given up on seeing a man on Mars in my lifetime, but maybe we can return to the damn moon before I die? Pretty please?
   44. The Duke Posted: October 31, 2021 at 11:12 PM (#6050449)
Were we ever on the moon? I’d say with a 99% probability because those reflecting mirrors are still there and there is debris and footprint and Land Rover Evidence from later flybys, but I’d bet we no longer have the capability to do that. We just had a billion dollar ship burn to a crisp because our naval crew had not been trained on how to put out a fire.

Our time is gone - if you want to see a man on the moon, the Chinese are your best bet

To this day I think only about 10 people have walked on the surface of the moon
   45. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: November 01, 2021 at 12:07 AM (#6050458)
Putting much, if any, attention on getting another guy on the moon would seem like a vanity project in current times, regardless of who was in the White House. I care much more about things like climate change that I do about ever seeing anyone ever walk on the moon in my lifetime.

Trump was briefly on camera, with Joe Buck noting he was in attendance, once in the early innings. No chop action, and IIRC, the broadcast didn’t ever focus on the crowd doing the chop, a far cry from the heyday of Jane Fonda & Ted Turner. I wasn’t paying rapt attention, although more than some apparently, so I may have missed something.

Thanks, YC. I was playing in a pool tournament and only one of their TVs was showing the ball game.

I definitely remember Turner and Fonda chopping all during the 1991 postseason, although Fonda quickly apologized after she got some flack for it.

Mostly, though, I remember camera shots of Fonda sleeping during the game.
