Finally, I recognize one.
Carter is a self-promoter who I've heard bad rumours about from a sportswriter my dad was friends with who covered the Expos in the 80's (stuff that I'd rather not repeat without confirmation which I've been unable to find)
Butch Hobson wasn't that bad in the majors but (according to wikipedia) had drug issues and a bit of a temper but nothing beyond what some coaches/managers in the majors have done
Wally Backman I can understand not having much luck (legal issues, quit for 3 days last year as an indy league manager, etc.) but he was viewed as a top candidate just a few years ago so I'd think someone would give him a shot at the low minors at least.
Tom Herr? No idea what, if any, non-field issues he has had. Given he was 'just' a very good MLB player I can see why he gets lost in the shuffle
